New Life for a TL-29 Camillus

Specification history for the TL-29:
The first spec for this pattern was RL-A-532

RL-A-532 was originally issued in 1919.
RL-A-532 was superseded in 1954 by MIL-K-13419
MIL-K-13419 was superseded in 1965 by GGG-K-484
GGG-K-484 was cancelled in 1997.

None of them called for 440C blade steel.

That's all well and good, Frank. Which steel would you rather rely upon in a military setting, 440A or 440C?

Wrong question. You said that 440C was required for a knife to be considered MIL spec.
If others make them from 440A, I'm not certain of how they would be "mil-spec".
That was not a true statement. I provided the correct information.

As for which steel I would prefer between 440A and 440C in a military environment: Personally, I'd prefer 440A. Easier to sharpen in a military environment where I might not have access to proper sharpening equipment. Since none of the knives procured by the military were 440C, apparently the military likewise was satisfied with steel other than 440C.
