Ferrum Forge Crux made by WE knife co. I was hoping for 3.5" but ill settle at 3.4" :)

I have a feeling that the market will be flooded with these..... both flippers taking advantage of the knife not being made anymore and people priced under what they paid. I'm in on day 1. The price is just right for what you get

Imma get real, now.

What separates that from the hundreds of other high-end production/midtech, drop point, titanium, frame-lock flippers out there? I may complain about the grind on the ZT0055 but at least I haven't seen it so many times before.

EDIT: I guess that price is pretty nice, lol.

I like the looks of the Massdrop Ferrum Forge Crux better than the Massdrop Ferrum Forge Falcon but the blade length of the Falcon speaks more to my needs. I have a Falcon coming late this year. The prices are great and they're both made by WE Knife Co. of China which makes high-quality knives. These are titanium frame lock with steel insert, ceramic bearings flipper, ceramic detent ball, machined titanium clip, S35VN and fairly light weight. The Crux will go up for sale on June 15th and there are already about 2,000 requests for it.

I wish I'd had the money when the falcon dropped. This knife looks plain and boring to me.

That's exactly why they brought it up for sale so soon after the falcon..... they sold a ton lol.

Holy cow  . Not much money for a whole lot of desireable knife traits o_O ! Simple and clean too...

I wonder what type of pricing pressure these knives are going to place on the market. Perhaps nothing from an outcome standpoint, but there will be demands from enthusiasts no doubt.

What I love most about these project is the number of new knife buyers that they are attracting. There will be people who have never owned a decent knife, will buy one, then be hooked on quality cutlery. Exciting times in the industry for sure.

  • That's exactly what caught my eye Adam. Very simple. No bells and whistles, just what's necessary. Done really well too!
Can't bring myself to do the MD thing though. Long wait times turn me off.

The clean lines and simple design is what attracts more towards the Crux than Falcon. However, I use flippers with 3 inches or less 90% of the time.

I hope this puts pressure on other production knife makers to see such quality and materials can be achieved at such excellent pricing. The consumer will be spoiled!

I also dislike the long lead time and the fact that Massdrop keeps that money for all that time. I hope that in time they'll realize that they could order 2,000 of these and sell them real fast. I had to force myself to order the Falcon.

Ok. Looks like available to join starting the 15th. It doesn't move me the same way the falcon did. Glad I have a few days to think about it, but I'll probably be in.

As others have already said, this is really going to put pressure on the knife making establishment to re-evaluate their prices. If MD does one of these Ferrum Forge/WE drops a month with this kind of high value pricing they'll be taking 25k knife sales per year away from the established makers. That should be a big poke in the side to ZT/Spyderco/Benchmade. I'm not sure that's entirely a good thing, although initially it will be good for the knife consumer.

I agree with the comments about the Crux being rather plain and boring...but if you take a harder look you can see there really are a lot of well thought out details in the design. I'm not crazy about that elongated flipper tab, but other than that the knife looks very "functional". I'm glad I've got some time to mull this over because I think at the price its being offered at, it'll be a no-brainer to pick one up.

And please everyone, we're discussing a Ferrum Forge/WE knife collaboration. Where we buy it has nothing to do with the features and virtues of the knife. OP please change the title of the thread accordingly.

The Crux and the Falcon are Massdrop labelled knives designed in collaboration with Ferrum Forge and manufactured by WE. It's more a collaboration between Massdrop and Ferrum Forge. Manufacturing is done by WE due to pricing and WE's quality of manufacturing reputation.

Glad Massdrop decided on standard torx screws for both the Falcon and Crux rather than WE's proprietary star-shaped screws.

Warranty is through Massdrop but ultimately handled by WE Knife Co. (lifetime materials and workmanship). Hopefully, not delayed too much or with additional costs of overseas shipping.

I'd actually like to see one of these Massdrop knives mass delivered before they start other drops. Too much lead times.

Yup...... risky doing another without the first one shipping. If it works.... it will pay off big time

Sorry but I just had to snicker at this:

Very deep carry! Not! Seems like designers of titanium frame locks go out of their way trying not to have the clip land on the lock bar in case of lock bar pressure preventing easier deployment.
