Attention New measures to stop scams and dishonest behavior in the Exchange

You guys need to explicitly warn people about responding to unsolicited emails spoofing sale threads on here. That seems to be a recurring scam and I don’t see anything about it on the banner. Some guy seems to have fallen for it on one of my sale threads today.
It's linked in the banner under "best practices" .

Sorry, I see it at the bottom. I have one thread where an attempted scam and now a second, successful scam took place, you can see it right in the posts. Very upsetting.

They have warned so many people for so long that if you’re even half paying attention and a regular, you know it.

I don’t even buy from the exchange and I know exactly what scams the ne’er-do-wells have been running.

What's hard is to not become completely callous toward those who with deliberate ignorance march directly into the clutches of the evildoers.

My sympathy reserves are near exhausted. (And yet we still try to help where we can.)

Not sure how much more the mods can do. Just blows my mind that people reply to off forum messages that request payment, especially the buyers that don’t provide a email address/phone number to the seller. People are in such a “rush” to score a deal. The dopamine hit isn’t worth the potential loss.

Due diligence can only be preached so long. Mods seem to be wasting their time, if the members can’t protect themselves. Mods can’t enjoy babysitting adults with impulse control issues.

True statement.

We have threads and warning headers all over the place. If buyers can't be bothered to heed them, there is not much we can do about it other than give Gaelic shrug and say, "C'est le guerre."

I am 25% Scott. 25% French. But the Scott is dominant
I think it's Scot. But yeah, I'm just having a little fun with you. (As I'm sure you know.)

I have a French family wing as well. I've only ever visited with two of my cousins in Paris. Had an awesome time there.

Knife related: I visited with Fred Perrin and "Nemo" back then...and spent a couple of weeks with them visiting the countryside.

Still working on my first cup of coffee. I'll be functional by tonight.
I've had no contact with either of those branches. Grandfather left Scotland in 1908 as an adult and never went back. Similar for grandmother. For all intents and purposes, I'm a Californian.

I haven't looked to see if there is a correlation between victims and their activity here. Per EngrSorenson EngrSorenson 's point, he may not spend much time in the Exchange but he is active across much of the site and is likely more apt to come across information regarding this topic. On the other hand, another user may limit their activity here to a pretty narrow scope with a narrow attention span on top of that and will miss the discussions, the banners, etc. Not an excuse, by any means, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a connection there with some of the victims.

Regardless, it still falls on each of us to do our due diligence, abide by safe internet practices, and take personal ownership of our activities. At work, I have to change my passwords every month and the requirements are stringent. It's the 21st century - cyber crime is huge and it blows my mind that there are still folks that use "Password" or "1234abcd". Password managers are an excellent tool and there are some good ones out there. In today's digital world, frequent password changes and responsible password management are necessities - folks need to start creating those habits and changing how they engage with the internet.

Can the banner be larger and in a bright color for all themes? Many will just overlook it as it stands now.
