New Native4

Oh, I want one, but the only price I have seen is $137 and that is at the store that sells the cheapest! I'll have to wait. For comparison the same store sells the Sage for $81.

Looks like MSRP is going to be $259.95 on this one:eek: Street price should certainly be lower, but I don't see how anybody could be making a dime selling them for $137, which is just a mere $7 over some wholesale pricing I've seen. This company must be a charitable non-profit organization:D What do they charge for shipping, $34.95???

How much better of a slicer and knife is that one going to be than my $39.99 Wal Mart Native?

CF Native 4 is must have.
If sale will be good Spyderco will move it to Golden and make FRN handle.

Thanx much fore the kind comments.

The Native4 is a pilot model for a new FRN version.

The CF Native4 will be limited in production numbers due to the capacity of the maker.

The FRN version will be made in Golden. There will be a S30V FRN version that will replace the current FRN Golden made version. We're also considering a less expensive version with a "stamp & tumble" steel.

I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on a less expensive version.

OK, bushing.

I don't know. It's a good idea but is the Native a heavy-duty knife to need it? It works with the all-metal Sebenza construction.

That means it'll be $260+ in Australia :(, guess I won't be getting this one :(.

How about a G-10 version, four-way wire clip, VG-10 or S30V (whichever is cheaper to manufacture, probably VG-10) steel, linerless, 14mm Spyderco hole, squared jimping like the Native I, and move the opening hole away from the handle by about 1/4"?

I guess I'm getting at a Native 4 but with G-10 instead of carbon fiber, squared jimping, and a larger and more ergo-friendly hole. Now that I think about it, this might drive cost up with the added machining.

An FRN version of the Native 4 would be great (and cheaper) if the pocket clip were four-way and the above-mentioned opening hole modifications were made.

I just though it would be nice to know there wouldnt be any blade play and a couple of SS shims/washers would stiffen up the FRN in the pivot area to prevent wear. Scale of economy and automated CNC make this pretty easy to do.

I agree that this model isnt made to be hardcore, but its putting the quality stuff where it matters on a 'performer' not a 'looker'.

Dinkum, I can agree with that. I think a nested liner can get the job done, though.

We shall see. :) Sal is not going to make a flimsy knife.

A flat ground Native sounds like the perfect EDC pocket knife. I'm not sure I like the carbon fibre handle though, G-10 would have been more affordable.

It's definitely the next folder I'm buying.

If I had ONE critique for my Native, it would be... TRY and put the blade tip more than 1/16" in the handle! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you're doin' away with the swedge! FINALLY I can give this knife away as a gift to those who don't "get" knives... It does not do anything for me, but it gives it an unappealing look to the discrete. IMO , the Native is the PERFECT EDC, and USA made is the ONLY way to go. I like to keep my money at home... in the family, so to speak.

Also, I LOVE the clip on the Native. I'd like to see this clip on more spydies. I REALLY LIKE the recessed/single screw application (even though I realize that it is WHY the blade tip cannot be put further into the handle) I, without a doubt, prefer it to my UKPK's clip.
