New Native4

My dream Native4 would be "Made in the USA"! G10, S30V if that's what they do in Colorado. I love the Native4, If it would be made in the US I would carry it exclusively for a very long time (hopefully)..... possibly until I expire.

I love the look of the Native 4, but have reservations about CF. I have seen it delaminate around pins. G-10 works for me. And one more shameless plea for the Native Chief.

I've currently got three natives and the ergonomics and size make it about the handiest EDC I have. The current s30v version is my favorite EDC in my rotation. When the Boulder CO. version comes out I guess I'll have one more knife on my list to buy. A native like the one posted w/out the CF handles would be bumped to the top of my list. Any chance it'll have g10 instead of FRN?:D

Bugger! I thought that 2 Natives would be all I need in that particular line. Now I discover I was wrong, I must have that new one.

Sal, you may consider making a "cheaper" version and I'm sure that it will sell quite well, but that Carbon fibre job really is nice. I think the Native, IMHO of course, is the great underrated Spyderco. I have been a fan of them since I first saw them. I think they should remain a "premium" line of knives, if Spyderco has such a concept. There are some knives that just HAVE to have the best in materials and workmanship and price should be a secondary concern. I think the Native is one of those knives. I'm certain there are people, even in these unpleasant economic times, who will pay a little more for quality.

I would hate to see the Native "cheapened" if I can used that phrase.

My knife budget is somewhat limited at the moment but I'm certain I'd buy one of those pictured, given the chance.

I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on a less expensive version.

I think this is a good time for a relative economy model. I'm not sure which of the steels I like that can be stamped other than the Sandavik steels, but I'm sure you will figure something out. IMO, there are too many AUS 8A steel knives on the market. 10A would be nice if possible.

There's always 440C too. A classic. Joe

Whatever you do with the FRN version, make the handle scales thinner w/ nested steel liners like on the Delica/Endura 4. MOST IMPORTANT keep that flat ground blade. And I know I'm reaching with this one, but a low-riding clip and if US made and non VG-10 how about going with 1095?

I hope that the CF handel on the new Native 4 is rougher than the CF handel on the Caly 3. Another wish here for a G10 S30V version.
Just noticed that the Spydie hole still looks small. Sal please make a bigger Spydie hole for us big handers.

Thanx much fore the kind comments.

The Native4 is a pilot model for a new FRN version.

The CF Native4 will be limited in production numbers due to the capacity of the maker.

The FRN version will be made in Golden. There will be a S30V FRN version that will replace the current FRN Golden made version. We're also considering a less expensive version with a "stamp & tumble" steel.

I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on a less expensive version.

Would the FRN version have liners, or would it be just FRN? And do you kno yet if it would be screw construction or pinned?

A more affordable native 4 would be interesting to me because this CF version is out of my price range.

Sal, please stick with VG-10 or S30V. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive, as you well know. I can't afford the CF version, but a Native 4 along the lines of the Wally-world Native is right up my alley.

I also would love to see G10 made in Golden Native 4. S30V would be great.

I'd prefer s30v and g10 but if it's FRN I'm still buying it. Does anyone know the exact release date because I'm definately picking up one as soon as its on the market. The only knife that could replace my current native is probably going to be another native.
