New neck based essentials kit....

There is a phillips screw inside the capsule. I ASSume you just remove the screw and insert one of the replacement rods and replace the screw, however, I dont know if there is epoxy in it too that you have to heat up to release it....

Here is a pic where the screw is visable under the fishing line spool.

Thanks bro! It is necky!

Hmm. That is odd - I wouldn't think you could drill and tap Mischmetal like that - but maybe there is some other sort of retention mechanism you are missing.

It is a cool thing - you can fit quite a bit in there - and gives you a little piece of mind when stepping out the door.

That is an awesome kit Jake. I've always liked Necklace kits and used to make medicine bag type pouched from scrap leather.
The thing I like about a necklace based kit, is the ease of throwing it on, and forgeting it untill you need it. If it is on my rearview, it is always a visable reminder to throw it on when I get out of the truck where I am venturing off into the woods.

My only concern is that the kit hanging from the mirror says "steal me".

Cool! But isn't the aluminium handle too cold to touch in the freezing winter times out there?

nice looking kit J... i like those RAT fire kits a lot... the logo looks cool...

Most people dont know what it is, and I also have a huge boar tusk hanging from it, and no problems so far.

No way man! It doesnt get that cold here and if it did, the kit is big enough to function fine with gloves.

Great kit Jake, The nadle on the rod looks substantial enough to use with heavy gloves as well:thumbup:

Isnt it dope man?

I haven't heard that bit of slang in awhile, thanks for bringing that cherished bit of urban terminology back:rolleyes: :p

Good job. You have it right too-- you want that stuff on your person. If you lose your pack and your WSK, you are SOL if SHTF, 10-4?

I would add an SAK Classic, Spyderco Ladyfinger Leatherman Micra or some other small blade/tool to your kit.

My personal preference is to make the same sort of lanyard kit and lark's-head it around my belt (NOT my belt loop) and drop the whole works in my pocket. I don't like that much stuff around my neck and especially without a break-away; otherwise, I use pretty much the same arrangement.

What can I say....Im old school.;)

I use it all the time. My wife is always on my case about using words like dope, rad, groovy, etc...:D
