you got it... just edited to fit that in....
i think it will make a nice little neck knife, for small chores ya know? i'm working on a few models like it with different blade shapes
one a little larger with an integral guard too, geared a little more towards stabbing, i mean self defense:D

i'm going to make up a concealex sheath for it tomorrow after work. then if it gets some good reviews its time to pump some out in cpm154:thumbup:
thanks for looking guys

Kind of looks hollow ground, is that so Mikey? Looks sweet, too bad I don't have enough of a chest to rest it on!

haha yeah it is....
i figured i'd make it small for chicken chests like us

see if we were built like mace we could have a nice size fighter on our necks

At 5 1/4" LOA that's a knife for little guys.A bit small for Mace and myself ! If you taper that slot you could use it as a shackle key !

Is O1 stain resistant enough to work for a neck knife? I know sweat is some nasty stuff. Very nice design and execution. I love the way the grind looks with the notch on the blade spine. Great work.

I've had some O1 bars sitting in my garage over the winter, getting damp and stuff, and they're, compared to the mild CRS next to it, in supprisingly good rust-free condition, with only surface rust on the side that was contacting the ground. O1 certainly rusts, but it's a lot better than, say, 1084 / 52100 in my experience. I picked up some O1 along with some other steel scraps from another smith who hadnt used any of his steel in 20 years, the O1 was identifiable from the mild and wrought iron because it was the only chunks which were still mostly shiny.

What's the blade length and can you make it with a drop point in cpm154??

yeah i imagine i could do that. this was mainly a prototype in O1, because its what i can HT at home for now.

as far as the corrosion resistance, its not that good. though i have has A2 neck knives that i coated with eddible silicone grease and wore without any rusting.

mete: geez, first mace then Dave sylvester. now you! us little guys need to team up. come on Matt help me out:D

thanks man. i appreciet the kind comments

Justin: you're right on that relatively speaking its not bad for carbon steel. especially with a fine grit finish its pretty good

Wait a minute Mike, aren't you the one that mentioned "Chicken Chest" ? And did or did you not sleep in Mace's glove box of his truck last year at Ashokan :jerkit: ?

By the way Mike, nice blade.

I've been wearing a damascus steel neck knife at work and it's hot and I do sweat profusely. I use it quite often at work and home. I will ususally put olive oil on it once a week or so.

Their is no oxidation on the steel at all. You can definately see a patina begining from sweat of my hands and the juice from the steaks and veggies that I cut with it.

Awww.....Mikey...thats a cute one. It's like a little baby knife.:p
Mace:D

mmmm larry sweat and potatoes:barf:
post some pics of it larry

Mace: bite me

thanks a lot man! i think i should definately get some stainless and start making a few of these

No help needed from me here, bro... we're not too small, they're just too big. More importantly, we have no reasons to attempt to compensate for other, shall we say, shortcomings by making big huge blades!;) :D

must be tough going through life like mace. always having to beat people up to make yourself feel better.
driving around that big truck (so big you could sleep in the glove compartment) swiging around his big knives, its definately compensation:D

well an't that the cutist little thang :D

hey you know about those guys that have big knives  rrrr is it big mussels and small feet  :D ;)
