New Ontario Knives (2015 Lineup)

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. The new bushcraft knives are scheduled to ship 6/1. We'll confirm or update as that date draws closer.

These models look really good, looking forward to getting them in my hands. Ontario quality has always been second to none, never had anything made by them fail me, nice work.

The dude in the video said the bushcraft series of knives would be available to buy on June 1, 2015... Like others mentioned i also wish they'd make this series in stainless steel...

Stainless steel? If they make them of stainless steel,i am not interested in them anymore, only 5160 or equal proper steel is worth it, to me,like to many others...Stainless is good for wallhangers

Stainless steels are not tough enough for large knives, in particular large choppers. They would be prone to catastrophic failure, breaking at the tang. For example, 440C stainless @ Rc56 has a Charpy impact test value of 26 ft/lbs. A2 tool steel, which I think is roughly comparable in toughness to 5160, tests at 40 ft/lbs @ Rc60. Probably A2 would test even higher at the lower hardness of Rc56. The difference is very significant. 5160 is a great choice. It's supposed to be extremely tough, which is what you want in a large knife.

I'm interested. I like "bushcraft knives" a lot as they are more useful. Sure, I like the "tactical" look....and there are plenty of tactical folders that are great as knives (good blade shapes, more emphasis on durability, etc).....but tactical fixed blades are useless for what you'd use a fixed blade for in practicality.

Although...stainless steel would kill it for me.....agree about the toughness in a larger knife > resisting rust.

I like those choppers a lot. Especially since they aren't coated.

I like that small bushcrafter they show second which, to me, is what I would consider a large field knife
