New Piggyback Combo & Lessons Learned

Looks like a very efficient combo. Congrats!

You can tell you're a BladeForum member if..... after cutting yourself, you take pictures before attending to the cut. :D

Aww man that's nasty. The pinky not the knives. The knives look fantastic and obviously cut really well!!!

Congrats on your new knives and new found knowledge of gravity... Bone head!!! ;)

Injuries suck. I hope you heal up quickly, and get back to enjoying your new knives.

yikes man... bummer about your finger.. that's a nice one... i really like both those blades too BTW...:) that golok is bad a$$.... i recently scored both a BRKT and Condor golok...:D

lmao doc-canada thats exactly what i thought. you know you love knives and how they do when you cut your shit to the bone and you get out the camera vs the steri strips or rush off to the hospital lol. what a day sir

and what a great combo man....beautiful

that's a real cut... my wife says that you finger looks as if it was laughing (where it is all sown up)... she is weird...

Let me ask you this... why is it the one of the first things you did was take a picture? :D

My friend got into an accident last time and he did exactly the same.... :D

.....Lesson no. 5: Beef up the med kit. This cut really sucked, that’s for sure, but if it would have happened while out in the boonies and had to hike 4 hours back to civilization it would have sucked a whole lot worse. There are countless ways to get hurt out there, and not all are from moments of stupidity. I added an extra roll of gauze because I went through it very fast, and ordered two finger and one 18” SAM splints online.
+1 :D

So much so, I can't understand why FAKs' don't get the attention they deserve at this forum

Kind regards
Mick

I wonder how many 'sheath-accidents' happen..

My philosophy is that a retentionstrap should best be used as a back-up for a sheath that has sufficiënt retention by itself. Retention should not solely depend on a retention strap.. That's why I put kydex in 98% of my sheaths.. Snaps just open up too damn easy..

Good luck with the finger!

Good scores. That Barkie is an exceptional knife in many ways.

lol, so true. Although I don't recommend this for general testing purposes, this was a fine method for documenting cutting ability. It had to be captured!

+1 :D

Yep. In my opinion this is one area that taking the minimalist approach doesn't make much sense. Then again, I don't even know how to properly sheath a knife, so what do I know. :o

Martin,

In this case it wasn't a failure of the strap, it was me not using the strap. Haven't had a strap fail on me yet, but I certainly could see it happening. Kydex would add a layer of protection and security. I've seen pics of your work, very nice.

Last night I used shock cord and a small hook I found in the garage to make a lanyard. Stretched the shock cord and hooked it around the D-ring for the dangler and it's nice and secure...with or without the retention strap. Just thought an added layer of security would be nice.

JCav - wow that's a bad looking cut man. That style of sheath was a new one for me. Usually I build my sheaths so the knife fits tight even without the retention strap. Due to the way that blade widens towards the tip that one came out a little different.

If you want a different sheath - just send the knife back to me and I'll make you one.

Sweet Set-Up!!!!

and there are only 2 kinds of people on this forum

Those that have cut themselves--and those that will.

Heal up quick!!!

Bruce - no blame on you or your work. It's a very well done rig. All my bad for not securing it properly.

That's a sweet looking woods combo with both looking much more than serviceable. I like how the the blade shapes and sizes are such opposites and compliment each other so well. They look like a great team. I guess I am lucky I had so much time in metal fabrication...now any time there is a falling piece of sharp metal of any kind around me my immediate reaction is to get my body parts out of it's path. That doesn't mean I won't get cut by one that slips out without me knowing it but if I see it I sure don't try to catch it. I've gotten some graphic lessons at work...not all of those stains on metal shop floors are from oil.

A finger will heal, but a chunk out of the blade, now that's a "HORROR" filled thought!
Nice cut, and now that the blade has tasted your blood, you can never get rid of it, it's part of your soul now!:thumbup:

That's a really nice looking blade (the big'un). I'm going to have to get me one of them critters when I get back to work.

Cheers
