New Platen Advice

I put a 2x6 piece of ceramic tile on mine using the same method. In addition to being "true flat," the best advantage is that you can grind all the way to the edge of the platen. With the stock platen, you have to adjust the tracking to get the belt to the edge, then adjust it back to do the other side. A perfect 2" wide platen gives you the ability to cut good plunges without having to adjust tracking. I put about a 1/8" radius on both sides of the top half, and left the bottom half square, so I'd have two different options when it came to cleaning out plunges.
