I have a question about the Proteus: is it exlusively a fanny pack or could you attach a shoulder strap and sling it that way?
 
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but why do you carry three dollars worth of quarters with you??? Are there Indian Casinos out there?:D No really, on a serious note, why carry the quarters...I am still learning so I apologize if there is an obvious answer and I just don't get it.

Im interested in this too. Not every scenario works well with a fanny pack. I don't see anywhere where a sling can be attached but I read a review where a guy said it was ok to just sling the strap over is shoulder.
 
I guess you could attach a shoulder strap or even extend the belt to it's full and put that over your shoulder but if you are going to do that I would imagine you'd be better off buying one of the Maxpedition shoulder bags !

I would have guessed you to be a SureFire kinda guy and not a Maglite. :D

You know what Iv'e had the Maglite ages but never use it, I just added it because there is a provision for it on the pack !!! When I'm likely to need a light I will add my Petzl Headlamp to my kit !!!!

I was just kidding with you, in case you didn't know.

I personally carry my Headlamp with me most of the time. Much more versatile for my purposes than a flashlight IMO.
