New PSK, man I love camera cases!

eh... i was taking summer courses at university and this week was all exams and term papers... but now that i'm free for two weeks i get to go play in the woods with my toys :D

i generally travel around the lower mainland... interms of hiking.. when i go somewhere in which i dont wanna be disturbed i pack it on old dirt logging roads through the central interior or over on the island..

cheers.

p.s. hows north alberta anyways? :)

Its getting quite cool, and we've been having some wicked storms. Had three Tornado warnings.

But, I was looking forward to heading back to NS at the end of the summer, Now IM not going untill the end of September. only a month more, but its a month away from the ol' lady.

ahh gotcha.

always wanted to hike in nova scotia...

isnt that where they make grohmann knives? :D

And thats just it.

The thing I like most about this is its not only limited to the woods, I can take it where ever I go. That and its a good size, plus it blends in, everony have a camera, and everyone carries it. If SHTF, people wouldn't look twice, there would be lots of people with cameras.

One of the advantages of your 'survival' kit being a regularly used possibles kit is that you get a better idea of what works and doesn't work, and what you really need when under various conditions.

Often what seems like a great idea for a compact kit is just worthless when pressed into actual use.

Part of the idea is a combo bug-out & traveling kit. It's my normal first aid and sewing kit when traveling, but it's also what I have to rely upon if something bad happens, like say a local revolution, nuclear meltdown, etc, and I have to make a run for the nearest border, be it donkey, train, ride in the back of a truck, on foot, etc. The concept is that if I have to, and I need travel really light and ditch the luggage and clothes, to just grab it and a couple of other small items and get out of dodge.

In todays modern world, a 'survival kit' purely for the wilderness can be handy sometimes, but most often what you need on a day to day basis is really an E&E kit with stuff for both urban and rural environments in addition to ordinary travel. A small travel kit with a few 'what-ifs' tossed in is generally what you need and far more handy and practical than most 'survival kits' I've seen.
