Do the "bump rule" applies to the trade section too?

It will be hard to change the price in that case. Add more infos is doable, but there is a limit of what you can add in the trade forum...

But I think the 72hours rule should apply there too.

Look at the rules in that forum you will see that they have todays date on them. So yes they do apply where possiable. obviously since no money changes hands there you can't change the price on something.

I've updated the rules. It should be clearer now.

Hi :)

Could we try a 1 BTT per 2 day limit first? 3 days will bury most threads. Also... I know that you MODS are busy folk, with lives beyond our beloved Forum, but I really feel that better policing of the current rule set might have helped to prevent the reasons for this action (AS WELL AS ALL OF US POLICING OURSELVES BETTER). Smacking a blatent violator occasionally DOES do wonders to catch the attention of the rest of us. I don't want to sound critical, but rather volunteer my time to serve as a moderator should you all be interested in training me for the job. Maybe a few more Mods might cause a more structured peace around the site? PLEASE don't take this as bitter/critical, ok? :) I really like being a menber here.
Ok, just 'voicing' some thoughts... As always, THANK YOU for this site! :D

Does this constitute chatter in the FS threads?

Like Jaxx and at least one other Busse affecionado, I would volunteer to be a mod, either in the existing FS forum or in a Busse sub-forum if one ever comes to fruition.

Spark actually cleared up a lot of questions when he reworded the rules again. A thread that generates *LEGITIMATE* answers/pics will not be in violation of the rules.

Beyond that, a "dead thread" can only be bumped once every three days. If you get no questions/queries in three days, one might need to reevaluate the price or add additional pics anyway.

  • Bumps or BTT style posts are only allowed once every 72 hours, per thread. If you bump your thread more than that, it will be locked. New posts listing price changes, new photographs or information, or additional items for sale, answering buyer questions, or listing the item as sold are allowed and do not apply to the "1 Bump every 72 hours" rule.
  • Buyers are encouraged to ask questions, however, For Sale threads are not for product discussions. Take it elsewhere. Do not chat up a thread trying to keep it at the top of the exchange area.

That looks clear to me. No need for us ALL to become lawyers to keep the Forums alive and well.:)

I understand and have no problem complying. Pretty sure my brothers and sisters will also understand.

I enjoy my limited time on the BF. Kudos and respect to Spark for keeping this place running -- that's why I choose to support him through membership.

I agree with Hugh. Sometimes an email doesn't go through & alerting him it's coming will let him tell you he didn't get it. It's just part of the courtesy of good communications.

sweet, 11 Busse family titled threads on the first page, including the top 3 spots. this is working out great.

I say one post every 72 hours, no matter what. If the status of the items for sale changes, edit the first post. All questions and details handled through email or PM. If your email is wonky, post more than one, there's tons of free service available.

I agree as well, seems a lot of people have trouble communicating via email/PM. Letting the buyer know via a post helps remove doubt as to who claimed "dibbs" on an item first.

Then just shut the whole thing down where the only one *able* to post in a sale thread is the seller. One post... No one *can* respond. Edit that single post as the seller sees fit. Everything else must go offline.

(No. That's not what I want to do but if everyone is this worked about the issue, then we could just lock it down that way. The only moderation necessary would be if the seller violates a rule in the single posting.)

Items from 3 fairly heavily traded knife companies taking up 11 out of 25 slots on the first page in a single 'snapshot' at 9:50 last night??? Ya gotta be kidding me. 3 companies, less than half of the first page... See, I can use sarcasm too. No offense to you, you've been around awhile, much longer than myself, but this is a pretty unfair observation. Why don't you all just BANISH us to some far away corner of the Forums already? No offense but we ALL have the same interests, knives, that's why we come here. It is unfair to jump us because we are a large group with a lot of trading and selling 'needs'. I've been watching the Exchange since the 10th and have found MANY VIOLATIONS from sellers of ALL BRANDS of (production) knives since the changed policies and rules. I would rather hear solutions. It's easy to point the finger and accuse, much harder to create a solution for PEACE. Let's try something more productive, please.
J M 2C's YMMV
Thank you,

Jaxx

and then what is fair to the others who feel your trading and selling needs impinge upon theirs?

Everybody's version of "fair" is different. It depends on your perceived needs and expectations. How about we all just follow the new rules as Spark has laid them out and see how HE decides to proceed, eh?

and then what is fair to the others who feel your trading and selling needs impinge upon theirs?

What IS fair? Spell it out for me.
There's that WORD again. "Your". My? Me?? How can you be sure? I try to follow the policies when I sell there, but all I've sold is Busse. Which class of seller do I fall under?? Responsible Seller? Or ****in' Busse Profiteering Exchange thread cloggin' troll??? Please tell me, I need to know. Is this a BLADE FORUM? Are Busse/ Swamprat/ Scrapyard NOT knife companies?? What about what "we" DO bring to the table? I've worked PRETTY HARD to increase Gold Member numbers over in "our" forum, I've even given a few memberships away in an effort to never again see OUR beloved Forums almost close forever due to operating expenses exceeding the budget of the site. We have big numbers and although we DON'T EXPECT preferred treatment we ALSO don't expect to have to give up any of "OUR" rights under membership so that "YOU" can have that preferred treatment instead. Why does everyone focus so CLEARLY on every little negative and PICK it to death? How about us all putting out heads together and brainstorm up some policies most will find FAIRER for ALL??? ...And others accuse "US" of being elitist.. Jeez
