New SAK

For some reason I can't really stand the locking system of the red scales on the 111's,
but this thread is making me miss my outrider, it's back in NS in a box someplace.
The extra layer does make a lot of difference to me, my hand fits around the OHT very well, as long as I am using the main blade, that thumb hole is huge.

The only draw back to me is the smaller Phillips. I use my SAK to save trips to the tool box. I carry the Explorer at all times though and have for 30 years.

Got my OH Trekker in the mail today. I liked my Outrider, but this is a better all-round rig for me. I still wish it had scissors.:grumpy: My work-around is to add Fiskars #4 or #5 crafts scissors to my kit. The OH Trekker bade has a lot more meat. Surprisingly, the serrations aren't as bad as I thought. I'll have to work at wearing them out :) Lock-wise, it's a little clumsy, but unless I'm trying to cut my arm off while trapped by a rock , I can get the knife open with one hand and close with with two after the job is done.

BTW, these 111mm SAK's work great in the Nite Ize Mini Pock-Its. The knife can fit in the outer pocket and you can get a firesteel and other PSK items in the back pocket.

I have one of those Nite-Ize pouches around somewhere. I'll have to dig it out and give it a try.

I customized mine a little with a Vic logo taken from a promo tote bag I found in a thrift store.

I gathered up my other larger SAK's The biggest one is a Wenger that I have had for 20 years. It has the largest saw and blade. I have the Trekker, OH Trekker, Outrider and the Hunter or Huntsman, I don't recall I also have one more that I am not sure of. I will get a picture of that one too.

The mystery SAK is a Rucksack.

The 111m is the Hunter the 91mm is the Huntsman (no I don't mean the 91mm in your photo).

Thanks. I threw my ld Explorer in the first photo. Thats my absolute everyday everywhere knife.

The Outrider is a good choice if you are looking for the saw blade. For everyday carry, I have the Adventurer in my pocket most of the time these days. Used to carry a Soldier or the Tinker. I prefer the Adventurer to all of those.

I'm not anti saw blade. I just have other SAKs with it on that I am more likely to carry in the nylon sheath of my SOG Seal Pup Elite where the thickness doesn't matter. I like the Locksmith model as well. The file could come in handy for certain tasks like touching up fish hooks, locks, or just some light filing. May have to look into the Outrider. It is not like I only have one SAK.

My edc SAK is the Huntsman, when I carry a SAK. I have been into traditional slipjoints for edc lately, often along with a Spirit multitool.

I'll be getting an alox Wenger SI from a swap soon, and I'll be trying that as an edc for awhile.
