Just in case anyone's interested, there's new scale options in the custom shop. The scales look good. There's some new wood scales and one bone scale. I just ordered a new buck knife.

Scroll over to the far right on the scales option. There should be an arrow.

Holy Moley, does anyone want to give me a nice Christmas present? Seriously a drop point 110 with Indigo Blue Wood and Nickel silver bolsters is VERY nice looking! I need to come up with some extra dough!

That orange giraffe bone looks really intriguing. There wouldn't happen to be any pictures floating around, would there? :D

I just realized I didn't say which knife I got. I got the drop point silver bolster griaffe bone. I'll try to post a picture once I get it

Black Palm Wood, Buckeye Burlwood, Ironwood, Giraffe Bone (dyed Orange)
Nickel Silver Bolsters for the 112

Nice options :thumbup::thumbup:

Love the options. I think I'll stick with the SK rendition of the 112, but that Ironwood may force me to get another 113.

buckeye burl...hows it hold up for those who have a knife handle in it? thanks.

Black Palm Wood, I've never heard of it let alone seen it. It looks cool, definitely different. I'll need more pictures.

Buckeye burl, I don't know how it holds up but it sure is pretty.

I'm going to need to win the lottery soon, like this week.

My understanding is that any burl has to be stabilized. Once stabilized, it should hold up as well as any other wood or dymondwood that Buck uses.

I have a few knives with stabilized burl wood. Buckeye, black walnut, maple, ironwood, etc... It holds up as well as any wood out there used for knife scales and handles, even dymondwood. Essentially the woods are pressure injected with a resin. When done right, it's quite stable. Yes, it can be scratched, dented, and dinged, but it's not as easy as one might think.

I put the scales on this knife a couple of weeks ago. It's stabilized maple burl. It's sheen comes from hand sanding in stages up to 2,000 grit.

good info, thank you all.

Mt_pokt, gorgeous scales. thanks for sharing with us.

old ford - Yes the ironwood and black palm is real wood and no the black palm wood is not dyed. Just stabilized (resin impregnated).
