New scale options in Custom shop

Mauiblue,
with or without rivets these are built to last generations. Though I'm a collector, I buy knives I will use. In fact I carry a 112 every day for work in a warehouse and it's held up against every day tasks just fine.

Thanks Brownwm for your reply. There is only one knife I have that I will not use and it is in NIB condition (a one off Chris Reeve Sebenza) and that will go to my daughter when she can appreciate these things. Other than that, I use all what I buy in my EDC rotation. I just was concerned that not having the rivets on the scales would be weaker and eventually cause the scales to fall off especially if I use it occasionally. Now to choose between the stag or giraffe scales.:D

Choosing the scales is always the hardest choice, they all look so great! To answer your question, those scales are held in place with a very strong epoxy when not riveted, they aren't going anywhere.
If, for some reason one did however unlikely, Buck has a forever warranty and they stick to it. Hope this helps!
Good luck picking the scales [emoji4]

I got the giraffe scales 110 drop point knife I ordered. I'm having issues exporting the picture from photo bucket. But I did post a picture of the knife on the official buck page on Facebook if anyone's interested

Posting from PB is a piece of cake. While looking at the photo, on the right of the screen you'll have options to "Share this photo". Simply click the block next to the "IMG" (should be the bottom option). Once you click it, it should turn gold and read "copied". If not, highlight that whole text and right-click > copy. Then come here and right-click > paste. You don't have to do anything else. While you're typing your post, you won't see the photo, only the link. Once you "Post", the photo will show up.

Now show us your giraffe scales! :)

I just received an email that my custom 110 is being shipped today (tomorrow will be only 4 weeks since ordering)... I can't wait to see the buckeye burl scales!

Has anyone else received knives with the new scale options? Would love to see them you you did.

Just got mine a few hours ago! A few days under 5 weeks, not bad considering it had to be shipped to Canada.

I will post pictures tomorrow night - nickel, buckeye burl with rivets, S30V. It's a gorgeous knife and my first Buck 110, but are they always so stiff when new? Depressing the push-button is difficult, I have to hold the knife in an awkward position and press down HARD, to the point where it leaves an indent on my thumb. I hope it'll go away soon... I'd hate to send it back to Buck and wait.

The buckeye really is nice though, and looks great with the nickel bolsters. Impressive knife overall.

It will loosen up, just keep working it with oil and cleaning the black stuff out of all the cracks. I can't wait to see it.

Here she is. I am really impressed with the scales, they match up nice too (I didn't take a pic of the spine, where you can see they are matching pieces). The scale on the engraved side is really nice, with a small knot and more varied grain. The pics don't capture the colour well enough, it's a nice blue-gray.

I hope the locking button becomes easier soon enough, other than that I am really happy with it.

Darkera that's a great looking knife. Congrats. if I didn't get the giraffe bone scales I was going to get that same set up. Just in drop point blade

Wow!!! Thanks Darkera for the fabulous eye candy!!! Unreal!!! I am just drooling and wanting a new Buck 110 custom. I am still up in the air on which scale to get. Maybe I'll get two customs. Ha!!! You guys corrupted me.

Between the Canadian dollar exchange and shipping I won't be getting another one for a while, but maybe by that time they will have more new options (maybe even for the 119).

I'd recommend the buckeye, it really is a nice wood and for whatever reason I'm more partial to North American woods. I was torn between drop point or not, but this is my first 110 so I'm happy I have the traditional clip point. I'm a happy customer
