New Spyderco Bushcraft (G10) is out :)

we've got another one completely missing the whole USA made argument.

That would be you. Mastiff/Joe has been around a long time. He knows what he is saying and he has a reputation for being level headed as far as I have been reading his posts. Not sure about you though. THis thread is about the knife, not about the whole Taiwan taking US jobs.
You guys are all starting to sound like this:

Re: the knife

I'll take two USA made RC/ESEE 4's with unconditional lifetime warranties for the same price as one Taiwan made Spyderco Bushcraft.

But that's just me. And FWIW, there is nothing wrong with having pride in your country.

By so many logics I cant buy a knife not made in South Africa.....mmmmm......So Sorry for Al Mar, Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, Rick Hinderer, Tom Mayo, Ernest Emerson, Mr. Hampton, Chris Reeve (even though he comes from South Africa).......................

Buy what you want for what ever reason you want. If you feel that strongly about your country then so be it. If a product that you want or desire is not manufactured in your country....thats why global trade exists.

Now to get to the real matter at hand.....NICE knife! I really love these, but I wont be buying one. Just a bit to much. I would rather buy an ESEE. Personal choice. They still look good.

I wish ESEE would make a scandi ground knife for about $100, now that would be awesome!!!

Hi Technician.

There is a net loss in the steel as we have to purchase it in the US, ship it to Golden and then ship it to the maker. There is a net gain in the dollar difference between the US and Taiwan dollars, but it's not all that great these days. These knives are actually made in Taiwan, which is far more expensive than China. Many knives marked "made in Taiwan" are traded from Taiwan, but actually made in China. In shear dollars, we might save 15-20%.

I hear comparisons, but not from anyone that owns one. I would suggest that you purchase our Bushcraft, then purchase anybody else's and make a comparison.

I know of few American makers that can match the quality of our Bushcraft model, in design, grind and handle fit and finish. Trying to evaluate a knife like this virtually from a picture is, in my opinion, unrealistic.

And yes, we did modify the handle to solve the earlier problem with the tang lightening hole.

I liked the original bushcraft.. but like the fact that the new one has G10 which is MUCH tougher then the wood that came on the old version. Plus I just love black G10...

Is the sheath now black to match the handle?

Thanx for the kind words.

Yes, the sheath is black to match the G-10.

The handle is very highly evolved. Chris Calycomb did his homework when forming the original. You can use it for hours with no hot spots. I'd like to do a version with the same handle, but in formed carbon fiber and full flat S90V or CTS-20P. Probably be expensive.

Thanks Sal, I did not know that, about the really made here but marked made there thing, there laws must be different from ours. Thanks for being involved in blade forums.

I find it funny you guys are complaining about buying stuff from china when you have no problem borrowing their money, how much do you owe them now???
something like 2+ trillion dollars, and your complaining about buying a knife!?

Which is a lot less then what EU owes to China and the USA, So please stay on topic.

Its not made in China, its made in Taiwan. O1 is made here in the USA. Its assembled in Taiwan and the QC is wonderful. I love my Gayle Bradley.

I personally have no issue with buying it. but its a bit steep if you pay MSRP. But most places have it marked down to be at least a fair buy if not great.

As for americans wanting things made here, whats wrong with that? I hope that drive and passion increases. It may drive this country back to the greatness we had before.

No American criticizes the German who wants to only buy VW, BMW or Opal. The Italian who buys Fiat or the Spaniard who wants to buy SEAT. So why do others complain when we talk that we would like more stuff made here?

Got my G10 Bushcraft today. It is beautiful and feels amazing when held. Regarding the bolded comment... I hope you're not teasing! ;) I've got a bit of a CF fetish. I also got my CF Lum today. The Nishijin CF on it is amazing!! Mesmerizing to look at!

I was thinking of Hong Kong in my previous post.I'm sorry if I irritated the intelectual members.I admit that I don't much about Taiwan but I'm not convinced of the benefits of American companies having their knives or parts of them being made off shore.

I cannot speak for other companies, but I can tell you that we work with this particular maker because of their skill.

Being stamped made in Taiwan but they are actually made in China now makes me never want a Taiwan knife. That said, I love the several Spydercos I own and will buy more but that fact turns me off.

Read it again.
OTHER Companies have knives marked Taiwan which are made in China.
Not the Spydercos.
