New Spyderco Mule Team made in Taiwan?

I don't understand why they put a hole in a fixed blade. I get it that it's the "Spyderhole" but WTF?:barf: I have one on my Citadel and it's an auto and that confused the heck out of me also.

Been said thousands of times, it's a trademark.

As long as Spyderco has their Golden plant, and is owned by a Glasser......I could care less where some of their knives are made. They will make sure the quality is there and profits still come to the US.

I don't think I will ever buy a Spyderco model that is made in Taiwan.I do care where a knife I purchase is made.I mindfully try to buy Made in USA and that is my freedom and choice. I have to be true to myself and feel good about the choices that I make and how I choose to spend my hard earned money.I understand that Spyderco's production is diversified and that is a good thing for all of us who appreciate the many great knives they offer regardless of Country of origin.Spyderco offers us many great knives from Japan, Taiwan, and Golden and it's subjective if any particular Country of origin produces a higher quality knife.I will follow my heart and spend my money on purchases that make me happy and ultimately that's what matters the most to me.I don't feel that I am missing any opportunities to buy a very limited special addition or once in a lifetime super special blade that's made in Taiwan. There is always another knife down the bend or around the corner that will make me happy and is produced in the USA.There are plenty of alternative production knives currently available and in the pipeline that are produced in Oregon, USA.I am very blessed and happy with Spyderco knives I have purchased in the last year.I have a Gray Military,Green N5,CF Manix 2 XL, and a green Para 2.Thank you Spyderco for continually putting out some really nice knives that will make me happy for years.
Peace,

Where are the "The Lionspy is made in Italy?!" and "Spyderco used German steel I their sprint run?!" threads?

I only buy Swedish made Spydercos *hums the Swedish national anthem*... oh, wait

Ha, point very, VERY nicely made, Mr. Deus. ;) You Swedes know a few things about steel...among my cherished tools are some of your M94s, M96s and M38s (I am sure I've got the model designations at least partly wrong, please forgive me).

I felt the same way! I actually made a similar thread and got the same kinda responses lol. I guess me and you have to much american pride txknifefan

Much not own much of anything then, and not just talking about knives....

Most everything these days is either made overseas and or has parts in it that were made overseas...... And that's across the board on a very large spectrum.

That includes electronics and cars.... So I guess you aren't posting in this thread and walk to work......

And live with no other electronics or lights in the house or apt and lets not forget most other things powered by electricity.

So you must live in a tunnel.....

Since you don't buy anything that's not made in the USA....

Two words...

Global Economy.....

The irony to this whole thing might be that everyone is posting from a computer that is almost entirely made in China. :)

I like the quality of the Taichung, Taiwan knives. I like the variety of price and finish across all of the Spyderco factories. Taiwan currently seems to be making somewhat higher quality knives than Golden. I respect people's choice of spending more money for a lower quality product.

I do like for myself, my country, and for my neighbors to have jobs. I will go out of my way to buy American, but I don't always do it. America is not competing like I want us to in many markets.

Are we discussing knives on this thread or are we talking about cars, electronics, and lightbulbs. If you read the post and read "I mindfully try to buy Made in USA and that is my freedom and choice"..
Please don't speak for me and say nonsense like"Since you don't buy anything that's not made in the USA.... "

One has to logically group everything together when talking about goods and services to make any since at all...

That's unless the USA closed it's boarders and all trade with the rest of the world in the past 24 hours.

It's only been over 500 years of trade with other parts of the world......

In a Country that was founded by immigrants back in 1492.....

That's 1,097 years after the fall of the Roman Empire to put things in retrospect time wise....

That's Corporate America that is to blame for that, not the other Countries that produce goods and services.

It's always about the money... ;)

The USA was not founded by immigrants in 1492. Some pretty inaccurate and unfactual information being tossed around.Do we learn from history? What happened after Rome fell? The Dark Ages..I do know that the Global Economy goes as the US economy goes. It's a fact that what we choose to purchase here in the USA affects the Global economy.Back on topic...I wonder what other production models Spyderco will produce in the next few years in 110V?I am still waiting on a Native 5 CF 110V for about a year...

I definitely agree. We say "it's not worth the time and effort" when we should be saying "how can I make it worth my time and effort?"

It was a settlement back in 1492, not quite the USA yet...

Didn't want to copy and paste the history of what was to become North America.

Yeah, the dark ages, due to narrow minded morons for the most part, really bad times all around.

Spyderco did say something about future models in S110V.

I definitely agree. We say "it's not worth the time and effort" when we should be saying "how can I make it worth my time and effort?"

Well, we could wipe out all of the Corporations and their Government supporters then start over....

Beyond that I don't know....

I understand that manufacturing is slowly coming back to the US. Probably a good sign. We'll keep our makers overseas. Good makers, good families, long term relationships.

Try to remember that Eric and I are hands on all models.

Also try to remember to respect each other, even if we don't agree.:D

Spyderco offers many many choices and options for multiple uses, task, likings, and tastes for cutlery. There are so many choices of quality knives Spyderco produces it is probably confusing to someone new to the brand. My favorite knives that I own are Spyderco and every year I keep coming back and seem to find a model I end up cherishing and enjoy owning. From the Mule project to exclusives like the Manix 2 XL,Superblue models, Taiwan models, sprints, and kitchen cutlery there are a lot of choices and a nitch for just about anyone and everyone.I can remember when I first posted on this board and still remember how I was welcomed by the owner of Spyderco. It felt quite nice and simply was an amazing show of class.I still carry that same feeling today and most likely will always buy Spyderco. The community on the board has taught me more than any person could in a life time and I am grateful and have enjoyed the interaction.Mr Ankerson I have enjoyed reading your rope cutting tests and do appreciate the time and resources you have shared with all of us.I respectfully request that you do not twist what I say or judge me by beliefs. We need to respect each other on this board and try to make it a positive experience.I apologize if I have offended anyone in the Bladeforum community.

Japan, not long ago, was a huge threat to most nations. Now, we have no issue purchasing items from them because of their perceived quality level. Once the perception matches the reality of what Taiwan is producing, it will be more acceptable to those with an issue currently.
