New Spydies for 2008/2009 - Amsterdam Meet Report with pics

I'm really looking forward to this.....although I still want a Native4, I prefer the "narrower" leaf blade shape and lowrider wire clip of this Sage...

Since it wasn't on the 2008 catalog, I'd see it coming later than this summer...
Of course I could be telling crap, I don't work at Spyderco.

A relative new guy to the "art" of collecting Spyderco's I'm absolutely stunned by the breadth and depth of the new blades.

It would be easier to say what I would NOT buy rather than what I would! :D

Unfortunately being an Australian, Auto's are not really a legal choice I can make so any that are are not for me. Apart from that, retirement can wait I NEED more Spyderco's..............personal thing, I DO like the white handled knives at the beginning, all of them. ;)

Regards,

Have been this excited since maybe 02. I NEED a ladybug, it was the first spyderco I owned when I was in 9th grade, and I wanted one for keeps since.

The new native looks like a winner, much more racy than the old native 2 that I had, I would get one but I don't see the mini manix falling apart anytime soon. i wonder if the lock is any stronger than my old one.

But the rocklobster in gonna find it's way into my pocket one way or another, dont know what use i have for it, but it's sure is nice looking.

So far the only auto that has hit the street is the larger Citadel. If you travel over to the Automatic subforum in the General section, there has been some info posted about it.

I'm waiting for the smaller Citadel and Embassy, which have yet to surface.

This is love at first sight besides being a lefty Filipino. Any news when its gonna be out in the market?

Btw, thanks Mr. Blonde for the pictures. :)

Hi Ryomaru,

Sorry about the "right handed only". Volume really has to be high to make a left handed version. That's one of the disadvantages of a Walker Linerlock.

We don't have a delivery date yet. My guess is later this year, probably in the fall.

I see. Its ok, the clip is a small matter, the VG-10 (am I right?) blade, thick liner lock (well as per Mr. Blonde)and stainless steel liners as seen in the prototype are more than enough to love it for durability. It will be worth the wait. Thank you very much for the info Mr. Sal.:)

In the early eighties or there about I was at the Cow Palace
in S.F. (Boat Show) . Where two isles intersected there was this man cuttin nylon rope with a sheep foot blade in an all metal knife with Serrations. Not many knives in those days would make it through taped three strand for more then a few cuts.
He made a sizeable number and impressed a lot of people.
No one was buying but I never forgot the knife.I wish I had bought one , but did not to much later. I carried it for the next 15 years of ocean racing and it proved it was a fine knife on the water for many tasks.
By the way you do not have to cut a lot of hemp to prove your blade is a cutter. Three strand nylon will just flattenout when your blade is done . Double braid dacron, spectra or kevelar are even tougher. ATS 34 and the like will make about 20 cuts. CPM 90V will go over a hundred 30V about like 60V at 50-60. One that really is tough is 3V but is hard on belts and grinding is not a fast.
I would like to see the LUM Leaf in a fram lock . I know it will not happen, but there must be a wish in the back of your mind.
