New Style Para2?

Just picked up my 9th Paramilitary 2 (I know, I know), and I noticed something strange about it.

All 8 of my other para 2's have the screws sitting flush with the scale. On the one I got today the screws are actually set into the G10, and the holes are chamfered. Is this something new that Spyderco is doing? Date code is July/11.

Sorry the pic is so crappy. I've been awake nearly 24 hours and didn't feel like getting the D7000 out.

Do you have a pic of one of your other para 2's? I don't own one anymore so I can't look at it for a comparison.

I have just one Para so a bit difficult for me to confirm. If you send me a couple of yours I'll definitely let you know if the the screws are different. :D

Just looked at one of my (two) Para 2s -- a DLC/Digicam from June 2011 -- and the screws are flush with the scale. My guess, at least for the moment, is that this one is just an anomaly, although of course they may have made the switch between June and July of this year.

Take a screw out of an old one and the new one, then check the holes and the screws. Should be obvious what changed.

I have a camo handle and black blade, mine was also made in July of '11 and it has the counter sunk screws and black screw heads

After looking at mine (same as yours CrimsonTideShooter) which is only a month old my screws are flush, not set in the g-10 like yours. As others have said, it must be an anomaly. I would doubt other than looks it is fine; if it bothers you I would contact spyderco and tell them.

I don't know how to read the date code CTS but I have one with blk blade, blk screws & camo g10 that came in around the 1st of Sept. The screws are flush.I'm betting the screws were inletted by design. LOL,I like my para2 enough to get a dozen more.:)

Thanks for the info brother.

The date code is set up month/year. The first letter is the month, second letter the year.

"GK" would be 7/11. You just count the letter space. A is 1, B is 2, C is 3, etc....

Hope this helps.
