New subforum time!

The gallery could be renamed for photography & opened up to all photo subject material (hunting, outdoors, etc)

I think sharpening should split from maintenance. It pretty much dominates the sub-forum, and restoration/repair talk gets pushed down.

Maybe one for metallurgy/testing. Though the knifemaker area has excellent stickies on them. Just something to segregate 'reviews' from the attempted/realized property analysis of steels & edges in hobby & rigorous 'testing'.

Something to ask the makers, but maybe separate forging & stock removal fora?

Maybe also separate slipjoints from 'traditional' knives, they have so much variety and receive a lot of focus separate from discussion of period fixed blades.

I don't know if these are advisable, just typing out loud-

Gadgets & gear is a huge topic. Firearms could fit under here in an individual sub, as could flashlights, watches, pens. Or these could all go into an EDC/pocket jewelry sub-forum. Also, automotive, power tools, audio/visual, electronics, clothing, I'm sure other stuff I can't think of.

Community could get an entertainment sub for movies, music, games. Or a sports talk sub.

I don't agree that we have a firearm forum. There are plenty of other firearms related forums out there already. This is first and foremost a KNIFE forum. Lets keep that in mind, people. I don't like the idea of it as it has the potential of spreading us Supers way to thin to deal with the issues you know will arise in that forum.

I totally agree with this, yet hunting and knives go hand in hand as do guns and hunting. I think that if there was some leeway in a hunting forum to allow people to discuss their guns as well it could cover the gun topic

Have there been any opinions on opening a "chat" or "general non-knife discussion" area? I notice a lot of stuff gets put into W&C, which in my opinion is not the place for a simple discussion between knife loving folk that's not about knives.

I understand there is the "Community Center" but I for one rarely if ever venture in there. There's a pretty bold warning on the top that leaves the content of that forum a little murky as to what is actually allowed.

I like the idea of a Kitchen Cutlery forum since kitchens are a primary area for knife use, and often, specialized knives that could use their own discussion area.

I strongly support a Photography forum, since photographs are such an important part of show and tell here.

But guns and flashlights and watches are just other non-knife interest areas that have no necessary or logical connection to Bladeforums basic emphasis. We do have a Gadgets & Gear forum where these topics have been fitting in If someone were to show a significant number of threads there for a specific interest, then maybe.

I think we do use Whine & Cheese for discussions that don't belong there, and that get trashed because they are there, unfortunately. I think many of them would fit better in Community. Maybe we need to define Community more clearly.

+1. That would be better then creating a whole new forum.

other than a kitchen knife forum i don't see the need for much else. everything is pretty much covered already such as guns in gadget and gear etc...

plus if you get too many subforums the super mods are going to be moving threads non stop because people won't naturally know there is a more specific forum for their queries (a problem already in my estimation) and the mods won't be able to enjoy BF themselves. :p

Thank you Esav, did not find this one because of my not so good english.
Regards schakaa

+1 for dedicated Spyderco and Spyderkin for sale forum. While it may or may not be as active as the Busse FS forum, it would blow away the Buck FS forum.

I'm jus' sayin'.... :)

Spyderco for sale subforum

:D:D:D

I would like to see a knock off/fake area of the forum to help out people from getting taken to the cleaners. It would be an excellent place to educate people. Just a thought.

I'm in favor of creating a dedicated Spyderco 4 Sale sub-forum. It will make everything more organized and easier for both buyers and sellers.
