New Take on Paper Wheel's

1scooter idea was a good one. I added it to my set-up that you can see in a previous post in this thread. He can confirm but I used one from Lowes which is a Black & Decker which I think is the same he used. Had to mount it independent of the grinder due to vibration. It shows the line on both wheels at the same time. Thanks again 1scooter for sharing.

Thanks, from the pictures it looks like this one?

I really like this set up and am going to try it. I think if I use the "Bubble Jig" I can keep the knife level and avoid having to build the part that you rest the knife on.

Looks like a great set-up 1scooter and that is definitely one nice edge! Thanks for posting. Just out of curiousity, what do you like better about the paper wheels over a belt?

Very nice! Thanks for the ideas!! Im just so happy with the edges Richard J puts on my knives I dont know if I could ever get that talented?! Contemplating building a set up for some wheels but.... um idk?

Sorry I haven't gotten back, but I've been away for a little bit on vacation. Yes that is the Laser im using. I got it from Lowe's, I think about 15 or 20.00. It works very well, and will give a much better sharpening job than not using one. Been using in for several months now, and sharpend hundreds and hundreds of knives and all worked out great.

MVF, There is no reason for a belt with this set up, as far as I can tell. I used some belts many years ago on a Burr-King that I also have, but this is far superior.

STRIDERCO: I would say to you, this is not as hard as it looks, as for mounting the Laser, there's certainly many more ways of mounting it than the way I came up with, as long as it's not attached to the buffer, because of vibration. You will be well pleased. Give it a try, you'll be amazed.

Regards,
JOHN

striderco, i see you are looking for a set of wheels. you can get them at any woodcraft store or order them through grizzly imports. you can find a dealer at the wheels website.
