New Tenacious Finaly!

Changed your tune suddenly after you got kicked out of the Spyderco forums for inappropriate behavior eh? What a surprise.:D Funny how you liked it untill then.

You are one predictable kid. Joe

Why don't you mind your own business, Instead of Following me around on the forums like a lost child.

I used the knife for a couple of weeks, like I said I would, It just didn't stand up to my Standards.
Once you have used Cold Steel, it is hard to switch over to a sub-standard Chinese Folder from a snobby, elitist company like Spydercrap.
Find someone else to hassle.

P.S. yea, I got kicked off of their Forum... Because speaking your mind or saying something negative about Spyderco is grounds for Being Banned.
Why don't you go Cry to your mommy, TazKristy some more, I'm sure she cant get enough of it.

I took this thing to work today and put it through some serious self-tests.
Paper and cardboard... Slices through it like a Lightsaber.
Rips through Rubber hose like a piranha.
Carves wood like a straight edge.
Zip-ties... No problem.
Manila rope, Braided rope, Shoe-string... Cuts like a Laser.
I even sliced through some thick, heavily braided backing material from the pinsetter machines at the bowling ally. This stuff is just like seat belt webbing for the HULK. Twice as thick as a seat-belt and about a foot wide. The Tenacious sliced through it like it was nothing.
I have to say that I'm really impressed with this knife. For $40, you cant beat it.
Quality is just as good as a High-End Expensive blade. I will continue to test it to its limits, and I don't plan on sharpening it anytime soon.

I used this little knife for a week or two now, it okay at best.
The action gets clogged up with lint too easy and it became Dull rather quickly. Those serrations are a Pain to Sharpen as well.
I have since gone back to EDCing my CS Voyager.
The Tenacious stays in the glove compartment.

I was looking at getting one, but these two arguments cancel out, I guess. Off to read more reviews...... ;)

WARNING: Simply a coincidence that he was suspended from Spyderco's forum, yesterday, and this change of heart.

I just bought one of the Tenacious & think it's a GREAT deal for the money. The quality is very good.

I'm just giving my honest opinion... Every knife cuts great when its fresh out of the box.
As for as being banned off of Spyderco's Web site, It really doesn't waver my opinion of their products any... just their attitudes. If you read back enough you will see that I had already said that I wasn't planning on talking to those guys much anymore anyway.

So, go ahead and Buy one and test it out yourself. Its only $40.

How do you sharpen a serrated blade?

You have to use something thin enough to get between the serrations. Spyderco's are easier to sharpen then some (Cold Steel) but you still need something specialized, such as..... SPYDERCO SHARPMAKER :p Really, though, the Sharpmaker works very well.

http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=77

The price in the corner is the MSRP, it should go for $40.

Tommy, do you know how to sharpen a serrated blade? I've always been able to get it just-almost back to it's original sharpness.

In this case speaking your mind was telling a new poster there for advice asking which was better, the endura or the police. You told him, and I quote "neither, both suck". Yeah, spyderco sure wronged you on that one eh? There were more incidents like that too. That was after a suspension and a second chance.

It's always the same old story with you, start s#!t and then complain that you are picked on. You have done that since you arrived.

Not once have I ever complained to any mod about another poster, much less complained of being picked on. You on the other hand were the one that went crying to them complaining you were being picked on after your first suspension. They gave you a second chance and look how you repaid them. By acting like a horses A$$. Hell, I'll go so far as to say you tried to get yourself kicked out. All that after they were nothing but decent and respectfull to you.

For a guy that claims to be in his 30's you seem more like a petulant child. My 21 year old kid acts with much more maturity than you. He did in high school in fact. When he was a kid he knew that there were always repercussions to his actions. I don't recall him ever blaming his problems on others.

I'd bet just about every forum you go to you get mysteriously picked on.

That Was My Opinion...

For your information... I never asked to be reinstated, they reinstated me After they read what was going on there.

Uhm?... I'm not the one who started this whole thing, You are the one who started slinging Mud and Following me around the Forums talking about me.
I just started off giving my opinion on Cold Steel Products, like the guy asked... And you come along and start giving me grief because you didn't like what was said about your Precious Spyderco.
You know... I have also given Spyderco a lot of accolades, but nobody remembers that. You just scan the posts looking for someone to argue with... that seems pretty childish to me. If anybody wants to see what started this whole thing... Go back to Page 6 of this Thread and read on from my first post there.
I am done with this conversation.

Honestly, Tomohawk and Mastiff, stop fighting!
[Tomohawk, if you a want a smaller, "sheeple friendly" knife, check out the Cold Steel Voyager...3in. http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=61309.]
I'd say both the Tenacious and the Vex are very good knives for the money. I went with the Vex, because I don't like thumb holes (see the CS thread and my thread "Why I don't like thumb holes" for why). Haven't handled a Tenacious, but they seem to be getting very good user reviews, and Spyderco makes a good product, even if I don't like them.

there's only two pages to this thread genius.

I've got the plain edged Tenacious with about six months now, loving it really.

First full flat grind I've owned from Spyderco, I've a couple of Boker Chad Los Banos designed knives, SubCom and Trance that are also full flat grinds.

The Tenacious holds it's edge the finest, even when cutting torch on roofing felt for my new shed the last couple of weeks. When the work was done, I cleaned the tar off with petrol, washed it up, ran it over the sharpmaker, from Brown rods up to extra fine, and stropped it up on a Starkie Sharp. That thing will again pop hairs off or shave paper! I like it about as well as my VG10 Endura (which also takes a fierce edge).

The two Bokers got the same treatment since I had the gear set up to sharpen anyways, and they pop hair as well even though they are AUS8 blades. The edge doesn't last as long on those Bokers, but they are a cinch to touch up and take a lovely polished edge.

I've been thinking about getting a bigger chopper of a knife and the Browning Competition chopper is looking good, because it's a full flat grind!

In summary, if you want to try that type of knife, get a Tenacious. If you already like them, ,aybe an Urban or UKPK may suit better? I could not fault the fit, finish or action on my Chinese knife, but the same from Golden with better steel................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think we can all agree that you are a huge d-bag.
Really? Having an opinion does not make you a d-bag, in my book. We're allowed to say what we want here. Courtesy says we stay withing the realm of good taste, and rules say we discuss knives.

Remember, when it comes down to it, we are all just guys who like knives. Some of us have more knives and more developed opinions on things than the other. Some of our opinions are worth more than others (my advice on sharpening is practically worthless, compared to some people here) but no opinion here is worthless. Let's not flame someone or insult each other.
We can all make each other's live's better, or waste time insulting people.

Jim, no one is faulting Tomahawk for his choices in knives. Apparently there is a lot you've missed. Not liking the tenacious has nothing to do with the ill will tomahawk has earned.

I'm trying to be nice about this but you stepped in without knowing what you were talking about. I believe Tomahawk already has a Voyager also. They're good knives. I have 7 or 8 myself. Joe

Musashi, I've been thinking about one of those Browning competition knives myself. You can't beat the price on that. Joe

That is not what I am referring to. I saw his reply "neither, they both suck." as a very snide thing to say. I think it's quite easy to see the difference between this guys opinion and a clearly inciting remark. Not only that, but he cannot even make a man of himself and at least apologize for his awful attitude. That's what makes him a d-bag in my book.

Unfortunately, controversy follows Tomahawk23 around whether he starts the fight or not. Mastiff, why can't you let the thread stand on its own merits, instead of importing arguments from elsewhere!?

You don't like the guy, put him on Ignore. DON'T follow him into a thread just so you can stir up trouble ... again.

Brules1, darthsoaker, jim preston, and musashi, thanks for skipping the mudslinging and keeping the discussion on topic!
