New to Fiddleback - 1st post

Wow thanks for the DIBS guys! That burlap rocks, I had a Bark River Micro TUSK with that material.

Andy - does the black paper 2 finger have a convex edge as well? I'm torn between the 2 finger model and the 3 finger with natty canvas.

Would anyone have an in hand picture of the 2 finger model?

Guys, I totaly screwed this up. I got confused between screen names and e-mail/real names, and sold Westy's knives to other guys.

If you're interested Westy, I'll put you one in the very next batch, and you can pick your handle material. Send me an e-mail, and we'll get it started.

No problem Andy! I'll email you here in a bit (crash1999 at hotmail dot com is my email address) and we can start discussing my knife.

Hey Andy - do you use customer supplied wood? I was going through my gun & knife cabinet and realized I have a piece of Redwood Burl and I think would make nice scales.

I do not use customer wood. Just got through being bitten by relaxing that rule too. I have burls avail if you're a spender.

chainring - there will be lots of pictures as soon as it shows up! I'm hoping it'll be in the mailbox early this week.

Here's a question...this will be my 1st knife with the 01 steel and I don't know much about it. I've used knives made from A2, CMP3V, 1095, 1080-C, 52100, 50-100B and then some in the "stainless" category including 19c27 and 12c26.

How is it to sharpen and how does it hold an edge compared to some of the others listed above? By the looks of some of the pictures in the "user" thread, it takes on a nice patina...

Its the easiest of the lot to sharpen, and holds an edge with everything except the 3V. 01 was designed for cutting tools, and is a very good blade steel. Store it dry, and expect a patina, but its a workhorse, I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the info Andy! I have a feeling this one is going to see lots of use camping and fishing.

The Karda showed up today! I just missed the mailman and saw the note where I had to sign for it so I ended up chasing him down a few blocks down the road and he dug it out of the mailtruck for me! I was scrambling for time at lunch to get back to work for a meeting so I only had a minute or so to look at it but from what I can tell, it's a killer little knife.

I will try and get some pictures tonight or tomorrow for sure and get them posted.

Andy - do you remember what you used for pins on this one? At a quick glance I thought they might be the G10 pins but I was in a rush and didnt' take a really close look.

Yep. Fiberglass pins for sure. Thats the same type of rod they make golf course flagsticks from.

Doing a little two finger Karda research tonight and ran across this old post. I lost mine (looked a lot like the orange one) and I tried to remake it as I loved that little knife. I missed on the slant of the butt and maybe made the blade a little too leafy, but it turned out better than the reverse runt of the past.

A little different, but still related enough.

The reverse Runt for informational purposes only and to demonstrate that I'm gaining some mad skillz (getting a real 2x72 grinder really helps out a lot):
