New to this forum, want your opinions on some knives ( first good knife )

Herstal, I have owned many knives from big brands, and many of those knives have come dull. Before you buy another knife, I'd suggest learning how to sharpen.

Just my opinion.

I am learning as we speak, got a decent edge on some of my knives now, nothing to be proud of but its better than i could have before.

Pc bluescreened and now posted the same thing twice... have nothing esle to say so... yea ( just edit since i have no clue how to delete the post ( if thats even possible ))

I've heard allot of people talk about ZT, Benchmade and SOG, ZT is waaaaay to expensive for me and in the other two there are some good looking knives but a 19-20 cm knife is way to small for me.
The knife i got from Mcusta ( returning it today ) is 19 cm and my hand is bigger than the handle and i can hardly flip it open.

Hello everyone,

I've been looking at four different knives for a couple of days now, the Cold Steel Recon 1, CRKT Fossil, Mcusta Tsuchi black or a Spyderco C10PBK Endura 4.
The knives that i allready have are old and from brand names that probably nobody knows, very low quality and i want step up my knife game.
The Mcusta one i really like, but i'm also on a pretty low budget so i'm still thinking about it, i want a nice EDC knife ( i probably wont have much to do with my knives but when i do i want it to work and i want it to keep an edge since i'm a complete novice in sharpening blades )

I hope you guys and galls can help me decide.

PS: sorry for any and all grammatical error's i'm from the Netherlands.

A vote for the Recon 1!

First thing when you get it, disassemble it and scrape that ugly and worthless black Teflon off the blade. Reassemble and you have a beautiful knife.

Check out reviews for the worksharp. Haven't heard any poor reviews. Next think about a strop, whether homemade or purchased they bring an edge to the next level of sharpness. Now as far as a bigger knife, you might keep an eye on items for sale here and maybe give an Emerson a look. Most of their small knives are larger than other companies large ones. I love my super cqc8. Sorry the.mcusta.didn't fit the bill but trial and error is how we all get where we wanna be. Good luck

Generally speaking you can't go wrong with Spyderco knives. They grow on you and you need to try one out or at least handle one or two before deciding they are just too funky looking. Certainly the better ones often have higher grade steel. But even the basic VG-10 is pretty good and pretty easy to sharpen. My favorites are the Native and Endura, but I could probably be talked into any of their knives that are in this size range or slightly larger. The Endura and similar sized Spydercos are a little too large for me (have two Enduras). I always felt uncomfortable opening it up in public and as a result, they never get carried. I carry a ZT 0770CF and a large 111mm SAK.

I would love to get a ZT knife but they are insanely expensive... the good ones and the bigger sized ones are around 350 euro's
