I was just wondering what new edged tools others have been playing with today.
Here are the two I've been playing with today. One of them isn't exactly new...but it has a new aspect. John Hutcheson of both SURSUM Knife Works and RMJ Tactical put new edges on my Shrike for me today, he did all three of them. I also picked up an Ontario ASEK for a skills course I am working on.
The new edges John put on the shrike are fantastic.
It definitely does much better in working with wood now, especially considering how springy this small leaning log is. I think I would have chopped all the way through it in less time had it been stationary rather than hitting a constantly moving, springy target.
John got all of the edges, face, beard, and spike very sharp. I don't think using it to make tools from bamboo, or a bamboo fire saw will be a problem now.
