New WARNING Issued About CS Rajah

Companies post legal disclaimers all the time, in an attempt not to be sued. There's no particular reason this fact has to be built up into yet another lame "Cold Steel is evil and Lynn Thompson is the fat antichrist" gripe-fest.

yeah, they are just trying to cover their ass after seeing people getting crazy with their products.

That disclaimer has been there since day one - at least on every one I've sold since last October. Nothing new.

we could have just said "it's a folder, use common sence". The thing is we don't all seem to have the same common sence. I think the rajah should fill the gap between a 3-4 inch edc and full size fixed blade. Not replace a full size kukri or an axe.

Yup! And they've had similar warning tags on the Triple Actions as long as I can remember.

lol my most recent purchases (kershaws, zing and 0d-1) didnt come with a dont use it like a fixed blade warning, nor a we will not support this for utility use warning.

they came with a paper in the box congratulating me on purchasing a kershaw.

Common sense and lawsuits rarely converge.

Judging by the actions of some people at Gun & Knife Shows, common sense in our society is not too common. Hence the need for these type of disclaimers.

Why anyone would want to use a folding knife of that size is beyond me. It would make a novelty conversation piece at best.:(

So far as I know, Confederate buys, uses, and enjoys Cold Steel brand knives and I've only seen him rib Spyderco - including in this thread - just not in the way another BFC person has.

They definitely are appealing to some people - sold three this last weekend at a show. I found it to be rather handy myself, in cleaning up yard waste after a big wind storm blew down tree limbs, etc., and a landscaper bought a couple at another show I did last month (sold two others there as well).

I own the Rajah I and it is capable of rough work, no question about that. But it wouldn't be my first choice for batoning or anything like that. I keep a Battle Mistress handy for that stuff. I see the Rajah as more of a portable just-in-case kind of tool that could do that stuff, disclaimer or not.

Precisely. Large folders tend to perform best as stowable last-ditch choppers. Don't use them for your primary work, but keep one around just in case! When I'm out and about taking photos my X2 Voyager does a great job of clearing the very light brush that sometimes interferes with a shot. Chopping thin green twigs with a 3-4" blade can be more difficult than you might think!

The disclamer is funny, but the knife is rather large and tough. I have held it and its a beast. I do plan on getting one, I rather like CS's large folders they are the only ones who have them that size...even if thought of as a novelty they are still cool and functional. I def agree that it wouldnt be my first choice in a chopper or fixed blade chores but it is nice to have a knife that size in case you dont have a fixed blade handy.

Yes, I remember this....

Someone was being a retard with that knife.
That goes WAY beyond the amount of tip damage normal use could inflict.

Break looks like it was Photoshopped. Not saying it was, but it doesn't look natural.

Just going to post that.

Really it looks like the first picture, with the break added. Unless two different people have the same carpet....

Looks like a real good "out" for the mfg if warranty service is needed. An intriguing knife after seeing the lock strength video, but much less intriguing considering the mfg says it should only be used for "very light" chopping. I'll reserve my funds for a folding chopper when the mfg can at least recommend "medium duty" chopping is OK.
