edit: when 'light' and 'medium' duty can be quantified well enough to satisfy every producer, consumer, and litigator, I'll be surprised. I won't hold my breath, it's a CYA world.
that's obviously photoshopped. compare the shadow on the serrations on the two pieces. And the carpet between them looks rough, from using the PS Stamp Tool.
My Recon Tanto came with a warning not to store it in the leather sheath it came in, since it could lead to rust. I got tired of keeping it out of a sheath and kept it in a sheath when not in use for 10 years and it still hasn't rusted.
"Now im curious. The card that comes with the civilian says that the warranty does not cover anything resulting from using the knife for utility purposes. Are they suggesting that if you go out and use the knife to shred a bad guy six ways from Sunday they WILL cover any resulting damage?"

There was a thread about this recently. I believe the consensus was that it's a knife designed for SD. Self defense is a one shot, get yourself the hell out of there situation. So if the knife served it's "one-shot" purpose, then it's done what it's supposed to, and if happened to break in the process, then it shouldn't be covered.
However, I don't think we got an "official" response from Spyderco.
If I bought the Civillian, and used it for SD to save my/loved one's life, but the tip broke off, I'd probably just retire it and send a thank you card. It did what it was supposed to.
