Bob Loveless (R.I.P.) thought that stamping could compromise the strength of a knife by causing stress fractures in the steel. so he always acid etched his logo. Bob is a legend in knifemaking and im sure he saw evidence to lead him to do what he did with the steels he worked with.

Buck seems to do it okay on 420hc. I'm sure there is a reason they don't on certain steels. maybe it's tooling wear and tear, maybe it's due to what Bob loveless thought? regardless of speculation, I'm sure its not done for a very good reason.....

I'm good with Bucks choices. they warranty it and so I'm sure they are making good choices on how to logo their knives.

I thought I remember reading somewhere it was because of tooling wear. I know they have stamped S30V blades in the past. I completely understand why they don’t. I just wish they did. It’s definitely not enough for me to not buy a knife because of the etch vs stamp.

Mine is on the black side very happy with fit and finish the scales are pretty much unfinished, nothing some Williamsville wood wax wont cure. Worth it to me but agreed a clip would have finished it off. Boy what an edge also, some
lapping film and it will be perfect

Mine arrived Tuesday. I was hoping for more streaks in the wood, the sunlight makes them show up. One of the scales needs a bit of trimming on the ends to fit properly and it's hard for my arthritic thumb to open. I'll do a little work and it will be fine.

Looks good! It's hard for me to open with my thumb too. I tend to use my index finger to assist on the opposite thumb stud to get it started, this makes it much easier to open.

Both the 110 and the 112 that I ordered are very difficult in opening and closing.

There is a LOT of polishing compound in the 112 and it has been tough getting it out. Dawn dish soap and hot water over and over again and it is still way too tight.

The 110, I plan on disassembly, when I get the chance, to more easily clean it up and maybe 🤔 polish the two sides.

The occurrences of issues that the new Buck knives that I have received are increasing rather than getting better. But, the sharpening is much improved. It is mostly the 110’s and 112’s that have been the problem for me.

Yeah, I can send them back, but that is getting old!
