New Work

great stuff! I like the contours a lot. and the multiple woods.... man, i gotta try that

Andy,

All of those are awesome, including the "defective" one. I'm especially loving the paper micarta handles - they just scream comfort! For the ones that aren't up to your standard, maybe sell them off the "Fiddleback Back Lot". With that micarta handle, you could maybe even brand/burn "Back Lot" into it or something, sell it for a discount. Hell, there's plenty of people that want that knife.

I like that idea of branding it! Great one. I know a lot of makers don't sell anything that isn't perfect. I've even heard of makers hammering flawed knives into trees, or throwing them into lakes. I don't like this idea. It would be expensive for me to bear the cost of running the shop if I can't sell the products, AND, there is demand by good folks for a good user that isn't perfect!

As to beating one, I plan to do that with my woodsman when I get a day in the woods. All my knives should be beatable, not just the duds!

Mike, Yes! Gearman's is the Bocote handled one.

Problem knife. Not all of them turn out like I want. Bushcrafter Sr. Pin not centered. Burnt the micarta around the corby bolt. Doh. Worthless POS.

Why not just rehandle it?

Bowlegged Joe!!!!!!!!!

Let's have a raffle for the dud!

BTW, every knife pictured is gorgeous. The bow-legged Joes look awesome and the EDC looks really comfortable. Great stuff.

Andy...

RAM raffle is currently taking place.

You are doing lovely work.

Man, I've started using Corby bolts. That front pin would have to be sawed off. I don't have a metal cutting bandsaw, and it would be a bitch.

No other good reason.

BTW, Corby bolts are worth it! Less clamps!

Thanks Kis!

I bought 5 tickets and told Steve to keep whatever I win. I've got three things on the bench to send him now for Ram, but I've been slacking I'm embarassed to say. Three Martindale Golok mod projects.

Andy, that knife is gorgeous bro. Some people might want their customs to be the most perfectly put together F&F knives out there. I personally would pick the one with an off-center pin or burnt handle. Gives 'em character. Like I said bro, as soon as I get some dough that can go to something other than staying afloat, I'm definitely getting one of your knives.

That is beautiful work, especially the multiple woods!

What is the blade length on the Bushcrafter Sr.?

Glad to hear that Andy - wouldn't want to think that the cork was your heat treat test (:D:D joking).

Man - you sure have been busy. That is a lot of product. They all look fantastic.

Funny.

Me too. Well, not the projects. I told him if I win to give the prize to the highest-contributing non-winning entry.

Andy,

I have been watching your knives for some time. They are not my speed for style and other reasons - but your craft is CERTAINLY improving!

Your mosaic pins, blade grinding - hell - everything is getting so much better.

I am getting a bang out of your journey with knives.

TF

p.s. I reread what I typed - don't take my e-mail as anything but positive - I simply carry a different type of blade - but if I had one of yours in the bush - I KNOW I would be abe to trust your blades and have something quality.

Shit, come by the shop. There are lots of duds cluttering the place up. Not every design was a winner. And some designs took a few before they were right. Buy me some beer and walk away with an ugly knife. Woo-hoo!
