New Year Calls for Old Hobbies

Not much has happened in the time you were gone.

The values of all the old stuff like SHBMs dropped like a rock. About the only guy that wants an SHSH is Ducci, SHBAs.... well no one, SHBMs Cobalt and he's broke.

How about ya help a poor guy out and post your favorite blade you picked up during 2008? Give me a quick 30s education on what you snagged from jerry last year.

Welcome back, DN. I've seen your name thrown around a few times since I've been here. Seems you were missed.

My faves of the past year have been my TigerWarden, the original Cultellus, the satin/tiger sabre SFNO I sold to BaliSlinger (which I'm shocked and appalled did not make his favorites list) and the ABA I just picked up.

I'm sure MMIAM will be around momentarily to post a pic of the Muks, for which many of us are waiting with bates breath, and if you look around the first 3 pages you should find a post about the upcoming Busse Khukri. Crazy, right? Oh, and we're all still waiting for the damned folder, too.

Oh, and G19G26 is still in love with tan/tan, and RedWolfHowlin still has all the BAIII's and ABALE's.

Sadly, where I now am, I cannot reach any pics (or any of my knives). :grumpy:

However, I can list: NMFBM, NMSFNO, SFNO LE, Comp Grade SARSquatch (really a medium sized blade, but extra wide and with a very sharp edge), and my AD LE. There are more, but these will do for now.

Happy to see more competition at the Trough. It just makes everything better.

Hello DM, or should I say Dark Hog, I am also one of the new guys here and really hope to be around for awhile. Seems you are a popular Hog. I have seen your name a time or two while doing some research. Well its always good to have another Hog at the trough and so I am glad your back. I too would like to know where youve been but nonetheless welcome home. I am going to have to say my favorite for 08 are my NMFBM w/snakeskin slabs #9 of 13 and my recent score a HOFSH w/greenlinen slabs. Hope to meet you at blade 09

Ha ha, lol, Jason. I would have included it for sure, but I was limiting my favs to stuff manufactured in 2008. Going back further, it would definitely qualify :thumbup:

Ok I'll bite...you mention the "Sarsquatch" and I dont think I saw it in your post (though I could have easily missed it). Normally with names such as "Sarsquatch" one can assume a large full sized blade.....pic?

Thanks, Jeremy. The Sarsquatch is actually a mid-size knife. A great combo of light chopper and slicer + all-around knife. Not too big for hiking, but slightly blade heavy for better chopping than most mid-size blades. And of course the luscious zero-bevel convex edge. If you look at my second post in this thread (the one with the pics), the Sarsquatch is in the top two pictures I posted. Hope that helps!
 
These are my toys from 2008. Although they weren't all made in 08. My Favorite on top,,,,Satin Custom Shop Black & Blue Slabbed HOGFSH (.33 thick). Below it is a new NMSFHO....inch longer blade than the older SFHO (.28). Below that also an 08 model the Skinny ASH1 (.21 ) and a Miliganza Muddy Meaner (.18). and the bottom 2 on the left a Blue/black G-10 BAD,,, wicked slicer @ .14 and it's fat cousin 2007 SE Game Warden (.27 )

Yeh, I guess that means the only one of my faces from 08' is the Cultie. I was thinking of knives I picked up in 08', which would be...everything. :D

Mmmmm, nice...... :)

It's going to take me a few days to figure out what to pick up as my first Busse in quite some time. So many choices, this is going to be more difficult than shopping for a new car.

Am I nuts or is there a dedicated forum on the exchange board for Busse knives? When on earth did that happen? Now that's cool!!!!

I don't think I can remember all the INFI I picked up this past year. :eek: There are just too many. :D I'd have to include the Competition Edge set - SARsquatch, HellRazor, JackHammer & SatinJack TAC (not pictured) up at or near the top.

Oh yeah, I also dropped the MOAB onto cobblestones late one evening/morning outside the Waverly at Blade. :eek: Picked it up and said, "Now it's a user."
