New Years Resolution. . . . What is yours?

I have had a very eventful year! There have been a lot of positives and also some negatives. Whenever the New Year comes around, I always ask myself what I could do to better myself. (I think everyone asks themselves that question :) )

Most the time, my New Years Resolution consists of losing weight, stop drinking pop, no more fast food. . . Etc. I am finished with figuring out which one of those I am going to attempt this year. I think the things I just listed are things that should try and do, no matter what.

I am going to pledge to myself to be more respectful of those less fortunate than me. I have never been "disrespectful", by any means. But I have never went out of my way to help. So that is what I am going to do!. . I went through half of my wardrobe this weekend, completely cleaned out all the clothes that I keep for no reason once so ever, folded them up and put them in garbage bags. I now have 6 bags of cloths and 1 bag of shoes. . .
I plan on donating all of these things this week, I just have to find a place that I want to take them.

So what is your New Years resolution? If it's to lose weight, do you have any plans on making that happen? I want to hear what you guys have in store for the New Year. It might give me some more ideas :D

I have made it a special mission to help those that are located in a centralized area for homeless people. They have access to porta-potties and have been allowed to set up tent shelters and receive coupons
they can redeem for a shower at the local homeless shelter that will also provide them a meal and coffee. This past month I tried to clean out the inexpensive blanket section of a local Wally World and delivered
4 dozen blankets and some cheapo comforters. I've met a number of Vets that are just trying to keep it together and the donations put a smile on their face a small price to help the less fortunate.

I applaud your generosity and would suggest that you swing by a local homeless shelter and see if any of your clothing (other than Ball Gowns) can be donated...

As for resolutions...Hmmmm Only two trips to Hawaii this year (does that count?) I've tried to give up caffeine that just makes me miserable to be around...Maybe I'll give up house painting....:D

After putting on about five pounds a year for the last decade, I've decided it's time to reverse the process. Fifty pounds by December 31, 2015, or a pound a week, with the weeks of Christmas and Thanksgiving off.

And every week I don't make the quota, two pounds of INFI goes up on the exchange (that's about a FFBM worth), with the proceeds to go into an envelope that either I get at the end of the year or my wife gets, depending on whether or not I reach the ultimate goal.

With any luck, that'll leave my with a lot of clothes to donate to Goodwill.

Great idea Pokey!! I have decided to help out the less fortunate as well, but I am going a different route. I am going to take my most expensive clothes and accessories and flaunt them in front of the homeless. I will make it clear that they can have these things too if they were more like me.

No, wait... That's kinda arrogant and shallow. I have a better idea. I will take my old 2004 350z and a box load of Busse knives down to the shelter. I will request that everyone come outside and listen to my public service message. As each homeless person walks out, I will hand them a Busse knife, but will make it very clear that they can't have it. I will then tell them that this is Thunderdome and the last homeless standing gets my car as a prize. Later that night I will report my car as stolen and the winner will get free room and board at the county jail. After I pick my car up and have it cleaned, I will drive down to another shelter and find another lucky winner.

On second thought, that sounds like a lot of work. Maybe I will just give up eating vegetables because they are so gross.

:D JOKING!!! I have given the news years resolution a lot of thought and I can't think of anything. 2014 was basically the worst year of my life, so technically I already gave up plenty. Maybe in 2015 I can get something back for once or maybe it will just be more like 2010 or even 2011. No wait, 1992 was pretty cool, but 1987 was better. On second thought, I think I will just give up vegetables, because, you know, they are so gross.

I've been thinking since June on a strategy for catching more of those cards you throw out at Blade. Last year I had to step on the first one on the ground. Someone caught one or two that I slowed down, and another much smaller guy even pushed off my shoulders to get more air.

I could always stand to lose some weight and started after Thanksgiving not drinking so much soda. That alone helps a great deal. Yesterday I took a friend hunting who has nowhere to hunt, and he didn't see anything so I shot one for him. He said he'd love to have the meat. Today, I took my brother and his girlfriend shooting. The extent of her shooting before or since I took them last December was a cap gun with no caps when she starred in "Annie Get Your Gun." They enjoyed it a great deal.

It is said, there is no truly selfless act. But if it's something I enjoy doing, and it helps someone else out materially or by gaining a new skill or perspective, I'll do it. Aside from things like that, maybe I can get a trophy wife like Pokey. I should be so lucky, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Locate and purchase more ASH1's...;-)
.... over my dead body ..... ;)

I have not thought much about next year, I have just been trying to get this year done with .... ;) 2014 has been, professionally, the toughest I have had and for reasons beyond my control, there has been a great deal of "this just has to get done" and it has fallen on me and a couple of my staff to do so, even though the work is not entirely ours and certainly not our field, but we have done so. My thoughts around 2015 are to make sure my staff are properly recognised for their work this past year (that ball is rolling but I will need to keep it moving) and to take more time to myself as, if I explode in a great bloody mass of stress, I will not only ruin the carpet I will be no use to the people around me that I care about... ;)

I believe my friend Tuica aims to pass your ASH1 total, Andy. He's pretty competitive...Cheers.

I'm dedicating myself anew to discovering the mythical Busse Combat Limited Edition Basic 8. :)

Gonna try to smile more. Gonna be hard as smiling is rarely my first reaction to anything. Not sure I even know how to do it anymore. Spend more time with my kids and more time in the woods.

Garth

Oh yeah, and stop eating vegetables cause they are gross.

I have several - here are a few:

Canoe more in 2015
Kayak more in 2015
Fly fish more in 2015
Read more books in 2015
Lose 25 lbs. by May 2015
Add to my knife collection in 2015
Walk/run/exercise/train more in 2015
And last but most definitely not least - meditate more in 2015

I'm going to try to get at least one ASH -1. That's IF I can pry one from Andy, or apparently Truica's grasp! ;) Seriously though, I wanna drop from 205 to 195 lbs or a little less if I can. 20 year highschool reunion is this year.

I am going to buy less knives and drink more beer (or maybe it's more knives and less beer). ;)

Seriously, my diet and weight are under control, but I need to exercise more, so that is my goal for 2015.

Work out more so I can eat more and drink more while maintaing the same level of fatness.
