First, the standard "I am not an attorney" disclaimer. It is my understanding that single edge blades under 4" are legal, period. Locking folders of that size should not be a problem provided they are not auto, gravity knives, or double edged. I'm not as clear on the following but I believe that larger blades are also legal to possess as long as they are not readily available for deployment (i.e., in a day pack, gym bag, briefcase, etc.).
As Kronozee advised, be careful & circumspect in carrying & displaying your knives. You wouldn't want flicking open one of your new possessions to cause it to be construed as a gravity knife by an over zealous LEO.
There is also the issue of open display to be considered and this is where, I believe, Beaver attracted unwanted attention. It's been a while since I've read the actual statutes but, as I recall, they encourage concealed carry regardless of size. Where this officially leaves knives in belt pouches & knives clipped to pockets is anyone's guess. FWIW, I've never had a problem in all the years I've been carrying those ways in NYC.
There is one last thing to consider if you are planning on visiting "tourist attractions" while in town. Some locations have metal detectors and will not permit entry with a "weapon" of any type, regardless of it's legality otherwise. A few years ago, a friend was denied entry to the Rockefeller Center skating rink because he had a Tekna Xtra Edge -- with its fearsome 1 3/8" blade -- on his key ring.
