New ZT could be THE grail perfection knife for me!

Same with me on the mini versions. I've really grown fond of 2.5-3" blades to the point that 3.5" seem massive and unwieldy to me :(
I really enjoy the specs and looks of the ZT line, especially the new ones, but I just wish they were smaller (and also some more affordable steel such as S30V, I'm a cheapy at heart!).

That's what Kershaw is for! :p

I can't wait for the blems. this is going to make the 0300 series look cheap.

I hope they don't have any blems! Exclusivity grail of perfection, make a few, sell a few. Speaking of selling, I need to get on a pre-order list for the 0561... where's that Gnarly dude...

It's a bit modern looking for me but I am interested. As long as it's big on functionality and not just gimmick.

Looking forward to the reviews! Any idea how the locking mechanism works? And I assume that might be KVT ;)

They do have straight tantos, like the 0700:

I never knew Kernshaw actually ran those!

Where'd the "gimmicks" be hiding?

On the 0777 they're in plain sight. ;)

Personally, this looks like a work of art in the form of a knife. That would would be the "gimmick" to me. Taking a mundane tool, like a folding knife, and turning it in to an artistic and technical tour de force. Excellent materials, innovative technology, and a great design all to appeal to a specific group of consumers (namely knife nuts).:D

I absolutely cannot wait for this knife! I for one love the fact that ZT/Kershaw think outside the box and give their customers unique yet functionaly beautiful blades.

Thomas,

No offense and probably a poor choice of a word. It's different is all I mean and it looks fancy so all I hope for is strength, aptitude and longevity.

The blade shape is very useful looking to me. You get a very useful hybrid Wharncliff profile (What do you call the blade profile anyway?), a useful tip and opening option. I can't figure out how the lockbar is attached to the frame in the picture but it looks like you have a hardened steel insert for the lock bar to tang contact.

Trust me when I say I trust you ;) And it's highly likely I'll be contacting kershawguy to add this one to my list too, if he'll start one . . . I'm already signed up for a black and brown 056x :D

We're would the "gimmicks" be hiding?

Ok, I take all my reluctance back - I just finished watching the youtube of the action on the 0777 and this might be the most impressive flipper action I have ever seen on a knife. Not only that, the knife looks much less blingish in the video than the pictures that are posted - I'm sold already!

And it's big! In a good way. Under 5 Ounces for that monster is a breakthrough IMO. Kudos to ZT. It certainly is not a "dress" ZT . . .

ZT is on fire!

I've already contacted my ZT dealer and I might have to add a second one now! Very impressive.

How is the ZT heat treat in the N360? And the specs of the alloy.

From the looks of it, (and of course depending on personal taste,) this knife has an intriguing, original, and quasi-futuristic aesthetic value. Whether function matches form remains to be seen, but in a way I view these unconventional designs almost more as 'industrial art' than 'cutting tool.' If it turns out to be less than $250 (haha?) then this will go on the list.

that is SICK.
love the design.
I can see that is KAI love their composite technology, it does add look for the blade, and cool the price down a bit.
but IMO, just me, I don't really think I'm gonna be confident using composite blade for hard works...afraid I'm gonna break it into halves you know
Does anybody have strength problem with composite blade?

i have used my Ti JYD and Ti Tyrade HARD in working outdoor situations (including prying); no issues...what, do you think they would de-laminate or something? few can really tell you how they perform because most don't use them for anything like what they were made for...

well, I consider a frame lock design is a hard use one.
But the welding line on the blade is copper, and they're 2 pieces of steel...not gonna pry or baton tho :))
BTW by saying Ti JYD you mean the composite one right?
forgive me if I'm mistaken.

You should know that if CB technology didn't hold up, we wouldn't continue to invest into it.

I can think of probably a hundred knives I'd rather have, but I wouldn't kick it out of my pocket.
Perhaps it would have been better in your mind if we put a hole in the blade? :)

forgive me if I'm mistaken.

Look up braze / brazing / braze welding. The weld point is stronger than any other part of the blade. If the blade snaps in half, it will do so vertically.

You have nothing to worry about :)

Thanks Thomas, Pilote and Knivesandguns, now I have no doubt about CB tech anymore.
I must try one of those composite blade soon.
if the blade can hold up for hard use then composite blades must be a huge value!
