New ZT designs do very little for me.

Right, why post at all........ But, you are posting in said useless thread with not much in the way of contribution. What might that say about your own life? Im not trying to be a jerk but what is and isnt "useless" is a matter of perception and interpretation. I have always felt there is just as much to gain from a critical comment as there is from praise. So while you dont feel this thread has any merit and that the OP is trolling just remember that you had every opportunity to pass this thread by. You didnt have to open it and you certainly didnt have to post in it. And if you think about it what you did is closer to trolling than what the OP did. You chose to open a thread that the title itself should have clued you into it not being your thing. Then you read it, and THEN you posted in it. But your only contribution is to tell teh OP that his thread is useless and that he is a troll? All because you dont agree with him? Hell I dont agree with him either but I have been in his position and I understand. And I really do have to ask if this thread was about Bear MGC or Gerber would you still be singing the same tune?

I got some good information about some of the new designs and some intrigue me. Personally I did not care for the 0200, 0300, 0350 designs, but like the Hinderer ones.

You should really look in the mirror because demeaning another member because you do not agree with him is pretty sad.

Good points Sir. I just get tired of some of the negativity here....

I would much rather see posts about knives people love and why they love them.

Regardless, this thread is useless in my opinion and I will just avoid them.

I would find it more interesting, and more informative, if people would post what they like and why, instead of what they don't like.

It definitely runs against the grain to post your negative thoughts, particularly when they are based on seeing pictures without even having touched a knife in real life.

I suppose I should run to all of the brand specific forums where people hang out that love certain knives and start telling them all how I don't like the knives they like. Sounds like a good, healthy way to start a discussion.

Hey, I totally feel you on the negativity thing. I guess maybe I didnt pick up on that vibe. Had this thread been titled "I bought a ZT 0560 and the detent is........." I probably would have thrown myself out the nearest window and asked the next passerby to set fire of what was left of me.

come on now. Thats a little different. I think the issue here is that some people seem to treat general as the new ZT forum because the old one is gone. But we cant really keep the same expectations and police content like it was in that forum. I do however agree that its more productive to discuss what is liked and if you ARE going to bring up that you dont like something explaining why instead of just making a statement.

You know, when I first saw ZT's new line, I wasn't so hot on them.

Then I got to thinking about it and the blade shapes offered and the fact that they would ride better in a pocket got me thinking.....what they did was actually pretty ingenious. They aren't as *look at me* as some of ZT's other designs, but they sure do look use friendly.

I don't know. I just re-read the OP and I didn't see anything in what Garreth said that warranted calling him a troll. Seems to me some folks may need to grow a thicker skin if they're going to hang out in a knife forum. :rolleyes:

When i look at the new Zt stuff all that really stands out for me is the Emersons.

The only new design this year that i really like is not even a ZT it's that titanium frame lock Benchmade.

While I also love and have a ZT0300, I do like the direction that ZT is heading. The good news for those like you that love the older ZT Tanks is that they are still readily available on the secondary market.

They are producing some new fantastic designs and pushing the envelope with their LE's. ie - 0777's, 0888's, etc..

The new ZT 0452CF will definitely be one that I am buying.

I'm the exact opposite.

The folding Santoku knives of old gave way to EDC knives that are easy to carry, well designed and priced right
 
I'll support the OP here. Not on what he likes or dislikes but on the fact that is just fine to start a thread about what you don't like or to start a discussion about what one feels is a flaw of a design.
