New ZT Factory Custom...RJ Martin Design

Somewhat makes sense, now that ZT is doing the selling of knives themselves. With the previous ones, they said the MSRP was $600 or $500, but dealers would be charging over $1,000 (the 0777 is still like $1,300). So despite the "MSRP" being higher than previous knives, if you sign on and order at the right time, you'll still get it at a lower price.

The few 0777 I watched sell from various sources in the past six months were in the area of $1700-2200. A 0777M390BW might go for $1300-1500 but there are only a few in the US.

I'm not sure how I feel about these new models. I want to like them, but finding it difficult. Too attention-grabbing for me. Gaudy.

Looks pretty cool , but considering the difficulty of grabbing one, the secondary prices and the original price it might be cheaper AND easier just to but am actual RJ Martin.

ZT's explanation:

ABOUT OUR NEW FACTORY CUSTOM SERIES

Factory Custom is a new concept in knifemaking. We're bringing together handmade custom knife parts with ZT precision-manufactured parts to create a new class of ultra-premium knives that we’re calling Factory Custom. While we’ve often worked with custom knifemakers to create some of our exceptional products, we’ve never had this kind of partnership before. Now, working together, we can create knives with true custom details, while producing quantities that would be impossible for a custom knifemaker. Our new Factory Custom series brings you knives that offer the very best of both worlds. Factory Custom knives will also enable after-market customization so users can make them one-of-a-kind items. In the future, you can expect to see Factory Custom partnerships that will bring you some genuinely remarkable knives.

Rick Hinderer doesn't hand-make his own hardware..

I would be convinced if they got some hand ground blades or hand contoured scales, but otherwise this seems to be a similar situation as a lot of Marfione custom knives where almost all the components are machine made.

I like what I've seen of it, but 750$ is high. If you aren't able to get one in the first few minutes after it's released, it'll go up over 1200$ immediately on the secondary market. If the idea is to make a more affordable, accessible RJ Martin design, I agree, this doesn't really qualify. I think I'd rather try and pick up one of the ZT 0600's you can find for 450-600$; it's not a Q36, but it comes about as close as the 0606, for considerably less.

Not sure if you guys are referring to a comment I made earlier in this thread. The MSRP for the ZT 0999 is $750 from what I read on a IG comment. Not sure what the price of this RJ Martin 0606 is. I personally can't see it being that high?

 My mistake, sorry... too many numbers for my feeble mind to handle. Still... even if it goes for 500$, I'd wager it'll be hard to find for under 1000$ the day after it goes up for sale.

I like the inlay and faux-bolstered look of the 0600 better than this, but I much prefer the lines on this knife.
