New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Can you tell from the Photos of mine what type it is? The ad didn't say and I forgot to ask. I guess I'll just wait until next week. And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... And wait...
 
I would say yours is the same as mine. CTS XHP is stamped on the lockbar side of the blade, and it seems that the line where the belly grind meets the tip grind is angled back more with the CTS XHP blade.

Yeah, I've been looking, and not ruling out the possibility of a second XM-18 in CTS XHP!
 
I'm shooting for a 24 next. I think they're all CTS-XHP. I'm going to try to get it from Rick. The only Carpenter blade I have is a foliage green Manix 2. I haven't used it so I haven't sharpened it. I'm working up my sharpening skills on cheaper blades right now, so I don't even know how CTS compares to say, S30V. I've been mopstly sharpening my ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS Kitchen knives for now. I'm still a little intimidated by the thought of working on really expensive blades.

The line drawings are (at least close to) what we anticipate the new ZT/Hinderer Colaboration flipper will look like. It should be a lot more reasonably priced. Release date is not certain, but best guess is November, '11. Because it is a Hinderer of a sort and affordably priced, there is a big frenzy surrounding this knife and its release. Sorry for the tease... Sort of... Well, not really.

I know its sacrilegious around here, but the prospect of this flipper has caused me not to pull the trigger on a 551. I am about to receive a 551 on a passaround so maybe that will push me over the edge, but for now I'm waiting on the flipper instead of adding a 551 to the arsenal. Two bills is real money, you know?
 
Resist the urge to pass on the 0551! You definitely need to add one to the arsenal. It's an awesome knife that everyone should own. When you get yours in the passaround you will see what I mean.:)

Do I need to get the unit together and pull you out of a hostile environment?
Gnarly, Thrill and Reeek I'll send the Armored Vee to pick you up. Thrill, you man the .50! Reeek, you get the Torch with the special juice! and Gnarly, we will tie you to the hood with a sawed off double barrel shotgun buck shot on one side and a .50 cal slug in the other to scare and confuse the Hell out of the enemy! Ill sit in the back with a XM 25 ready to plant one up the bung hole of the enemy! That should be a good start!!!

All this talk about the 0551 usurping the flipper before the flipper is even here?! Sacrilege! :)

My carry 0551 has been in my pocket for about 98% to 99% of every day since I got it a few months back! What a knife. Of course I have two flippers on order too! And a couple 0550s! :eek: I'm a sick man . . . But I know value when I carry it . . .

I bought one figuring that I could sell it later without losing money. But I don't think I will. When you get your passaround you'll see what I mean;)
 
You guys talk about foregoing the 551 as if you had a choice? Other than the ebay rape their isn't any to buy at retail. I've been on a pre order since february. I actually plan to own them both.
 
I guess I got lucky. I picked one up off of a dealer from here at the beginning of the month. I love my 551, never leaves my pocket!
