New ZT0550 Thread !!!

I contacted 8 different dealers this week. Each one said, "We have a bunch on the way, but we don't know when they'll get here."

As a result, I'm on a waiting list with KershawGuy.

I'm in the same boat, NOBODY has these, talked to everyone i could find, and still ended up on kershawguys list. with his reputation i feel safer there than anywhere else.

Anyone know of a dealer who has these in stock right now.

Knifeworks just sent me mine... don't know if they're out.
Gotta say this 551 is a winner.
Personally, I'm glad it's not a flipper or assisted opening.
I'm a bit stunned that it already has bumped itself to the top of my EDC options.
Very good, well built, easily maintainable and fits in the hand like it wants you to work.
I might not be able to proofread myself out of a three word sentence, but I can definitely pick out a quality work tool better than most people I've run across.
This knife kicks ass... period.
Very good things were happening at the designing table AND at the shop.

My total satisfaction with the ZT line, especially the 551, has made me a ZT salesman/rep to any working man that'll listen to me.

Can't give enough thumbs up for this product.

Knifeworks sent me my second too and from what I hear, they only got 40 out of a lot more they had on order.

The one I got appears to be one that may have gone back to ZT for the Spa treatement because it was number 0024. Just an assumption though. It's a really good one too.

What needed the spa treatment, out of curiosity?
I just nitpicked the hell out of my 551 and all seemed well. There was an earlier issue that got someone fired, from what I understand.
There was no hint of that issue with my blade.

My 0551 had traveled a long way and arrived today, just in time for Christmas...Thanks, Dave! (Just curious: how many people ordered this knife from outside the States?)

I tried, but got a very short reply from him simply saying he wouldn't ship to Canada. I'm not sure why, considering you're all the way out in Hong Kong and it wasn't a problem to get it to you all the way out in Hong Kong:confused:

Canada might have more strict customs and laws regarding shipment of knives over its borders IIRC.

Another comparison shot for perspective:

Canada Border Services can be an absolute bugger sometimes; I'm guessing that would probably be the cause.

I like that G10 pattern and the handle shape. Thomas, I'm just throwing this out there, but if you need someone to test the proto in the "real world" I'll volunteer. I'd be willing to sacrifice my pocket and forgo other EDC choices in order to carry this knife and really put it to work.

Here's hoping & praying it's a design feature that survives...for those of us with old injuries, making a thumbstud difficult to operate....a hand/thumb injury that leaves you with 'grasp' or 'pincer' grip, but little or no extensor (flicking) movement outward.

Some folks feel a flipper is 'gimmicky',but those knives are useful to a niche of people who don't buy thumbstud knives.F'r instance: a handful of disabled Vets & old throttle jockeys I know....and older knife fanatics, stuck with arthritis.

I think they would say: "Don't like flippers?Take a Dremel tool and grind 'em off!"

Color me selfish,if you will, but if I could send my gorgeous serial # 0104 back to Thomas, along with a $50 bill and get a new blade with a flipper....no other changes, mind you!....mine would be in the mail tomorrow. On second thought, the knife would be worth $100 more to me.

And yes,I may be the only man on the planet who thinks so!

Just my opinion,
