New ZT0550 Thread !!!

I know I'm repeating myself but I can't help it. This knife had me at hello. :D

The more I carry it the more I am comepletely blown away. If I absolutely had to, I could get rid of every other knife I presently edc and be perfectly happy carrying just this one.

As of right now I am declaring this my official favorite knife of all time. Kershaw hit a grand slam with this design. :thumbup:

Yes, more are coming, you should contact ZT dealers in order to find one that has one coming, one dealer I spoke to yesterday expects to receive his allotment this week.

I just got a phone call from KnifeWorks. They are getting some in and will be shipping tomorrow. The bad news is they are only getting 40 and they are all spoken for. I am one of the 40. :thumbup:

Yes. The call from Ashley. This is the second call from her. About a month and a half ago I noticed they still had their ad up for the Spyderco Military M4 up long after they where sold out. It said temporarily out of stock. So on a whim I sent an e-mail requesting to buy one if they ever got any more and like 3 weeks later I get the call. :)
 
ZT/H #0292 arrived at it's new home today.

Fit n' finish, lock up, everything.... just as it should be. :thumbup:

Hi guys -

I have been using mine for some time now, mine having been in the very first batch that kershawguy sent out (number 0019).

I love the knife, and mine has gotten very smooth, and unlocks relatively easily now.

With the beefy lockbar and larger detent, it is likely always going to take more effort to unlock than other knives, such as my Acies or Speedform.

The blade is very stout - it's a fatty and the handle feels good in the hand.

I did have opportunity to compare the cutting ability of the knife with a Spyderco Military on some cardboard that a large TV came in.

The 0551 would start the cut well, but would bind up a little when making long , slicing cuts. I attribute this to the thicker blade and grind. The Spyderco is full flat ground and much thinner, so it did slice better.

The 0551 is so stout, however, that I just put a lot more muscle into the cuts and the knife did what it was supposed to do with enough force. I never had any doubts about the lock or the knife failing.

I have liked carrying the 0551 too - I thought it might be too big, but it really does not seem that big in pocket.

I did sharpen mine up on a dmt duo-fold, and it has stayed very sharp through some cardboard cutting, a little cutting and stabbing into drywall, and routine cutting of plastic banding on boxes and opening some packages etc.

I am very happy with my 0551, and I will be keeping and using it for a long time to come.

Mine showed up this morning also. I didn't expect it until Sat or maybe even Monday. #161. Very impressed with the knife. It's a keeper. I think I'll have to get the 550 as well.

Got several knives from KW today. Among them, ZT0551 #49.
No rust, lockup at about 50%, perfectly flush scale and centered blade.
Oh, and hair popping sharp out of the box. I have never had a knife come this sharp before.

All the stories are true. This thing is a beast.

Lol, I know how you feel Termiteslayer. It seems like I'm always waiting on one knife or another. But don't worry, this one is definately worth it! ;)
