New ZT0550 Thread !!!

I like the sound mine makes when I push on the blade too open it. I push it all the way until I hear that click. When it locks in place.

Yeah me too. It's a unique, satisfying "snick"! Mine has broken in beautifully.

There are only small complaints I can come up with after using it for a while now. One is that my finger slides off the jimping on the lock bar choil making it difficult for me to unlock sometimes.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem. It may just be my fat sausage fingers that create that problem.

The second is that I have just recently noticed a slight hint of side to side blade play. It is very minor and you have to grasp the blade by tip to pick it up. I wonder, if I tighten up the pivot screw a bit whether that would'nt take care of it?

These are very minor issues. Like I said this knife has gone on to become one of my all time favorite knives in the stable. I have been carrying two at at a time lately. All the others rotate but this one always seems to find itself in my pocket.

Yep..That's the reason for this :) no more slipping and actually works great for opening too.

Wow! Is that ever sweet! Did you do that yourself?!?

Yes ;)

I posted these pics a few days ago elsewhere on BF. Unlocking this was a problem because of the carpal tunnel I have. Problem fixed :D

Yes, the pivot adjustment will tighten up the side to side play and it probably won't affect the action much if at all if you tighten just right. I've already done it.

Dude, you are an artist. We're not worthy, were not worthy. . . :D

Excellent, thank you Reeek. I'm going try that in just a little while. I'll let you guys know how it goes. . . .

Please do. My experience says if you tighten too much your action will of course get tighter but the blade will also move right to left if you are looking at the blade tip in front of you with the knife closed and the spine upward. It takes just a little to remove the side to side play.

MAAAAN my dealer cannot get even one right now, have to wait some more time, even to have some more news
many sellers either do not ship to italy (or want a high price) or don't have 5-6 pieces I would like to buy, group buy for the MCKF forum ( i'm the one that gets all the ZT/kershaws 8-) so.....

Thomas, sent you an email via the kai webstite, hope you get it (don't know how else Icould reach you)

I've heard some dealers here aren't getting theirs until end of month or early February

Perfectly centered and no blade play now.

Thanks Reeek! :thumbup::D

I just bought one LNIB off of the forum and it has up and down blade play and its pretty noticeable. When you rock it back and forth you can actually hear it. Anyone else have a problem like this? I guess its back off to Kershaw for the second time. :(

Finally received my ZT0551!!! YESSSS!!!! After I cleaned it, re-oiled and polished the PB washers with brown and white compound, the knife is veeeery smooth. The only drawback is that the clip screws are just a little bit shorter than I expected. The reason for that is that I am a lefty and when changing the clip to the other side (G-10 side) it did not go all the way in. I used a screw checker and found the screw size, so will be ordering some spare screws and change the clip position. The most important thing is that I have mine now......

:D

So you like the knife overall? I am falling more and more in love with mine each day I carry it. Mine started performing like a $600 custom after a couple weeks of break in.

Nope, though I could hear my stop pin rattling around the handles after I polished the liners clean. Doesn't affect blade play though.
