When I sent Dave my Pre-order request, he said he was only getting 150 pcs.So I wonder if his 150 will be part of the first 500, or will he only get a few....hhmmm

Hey Dave, I don't wanna bother you with another email. But if you happen to see this post and have a second to respond could you please let us know(if you even know yet) how many you will be recieving from the first batch?

I hope that Kershawguy lives near you so that he can stop by and pick up a 60 lb box of knives.

So, production is progressing nicely, looks like 500 pieces will be shipping early next week.

The run is for 1000 pieces, but we're building out the 500 now, and the balance will be done up in a few weeks.

Hey... WoW... interesting post here!!! It's probably the most popular I ever seen!

Is someone can tell me what is the difference between the 551 that is about to be shipped and the 550 that will follow in couple months?

Is there any chances to see the 551 up North, in Canada?

I'm gonna start praying that Kershawguy gets his full order. Not sure where on the list I'm at exactly but a few more weeks of "new knife anticipation" and I'll have worn my teeth down from nerves. It's going to be a great folder!

Great news

I was put on the list back in August, but never did get an email back with a number. I'm just glad I'm on the pre-order list :D

He (KG) emailed me, he said tomorrow he will know more details.

Come on dude, there are 155 pages on it. Search a little bit and read more, it builds character. ;)

I'm #5 :)

Would be cool if I got #5 but I don't think and hope they didn't number them. I would have to put it to extra abuse to wear the numbers off ;)

If someone gets bored enough they ought to make a topic that compiles all the pics and tech. specs of this knife into one place so'z it isn't spread out over more than 100 pages...maybe have it stickied to boot, since this thread never strays far from page 1 anyway. :D

All pieces will be numbered, but Dave will not know his serial #'s until the knives show up. I'm sure your #'s are based on your place on his list.

thanks Thomas -

I am excited to see the knife, and I have a low number on Dave's list.

I have been doing some of my Christmas shopping, and I have purchased 5 Kershaw knives in the last week!

I just had a great (first) experience with Kershaw's customer service, when I needed a tube-spacer for my 3600 Volt - which I admittedly lost myself of my own fault.

Cheryl, from Kershaw customer service, treated me like a VIP and sent me a set of screws and tube spacers and would not accept any compensation for it!

Thanks to all of you at Kershaw, a great company with excellent products.

best regards -

Here are the details... (Please correct me if I miss something.:foot:)

ZT 0550 specs have not been released other than to say the blade steel is scheduled to be Vanax and the blade finish will be different than the ZT 0551 (not stonewashed). There may be a difference in the G-10 pattern and backspacer, but nothing (to my knowledge) is set in stone at this point. Expected completion of the 0550 is sometime after the first of the year 2011.

Expected delivery date of the 0551 sprint run is within a week or two.

0551 Sprint Run specs:

  • 3 1/2 inch blade
  • .156 thick blade (Same as ZT 0300)
  • Elmax blade steel
  • Plain edge only
  • Grind - See pictures below of the production 0551 Sprint Run
  • Stonewashed blade
  • Titanium frame lock with bead blast finish
  • Black G-10 scale with "brick" pattern over a skeletonized 410 stainless steel liner
  • Phosphor bronze bushings
  • Anodized aluminum tube spacers
  • 5.8 oz with no clip
  • Clip will be the same as the ZT 03XX series
  • No choil
  • No glass breaker (According to RH, none of the 0550/0551 will have anything sticking out the back.)
  • Flow through design (no back spacer)
  • MSRP $250
