Who's still excited???:)
Who's managed to get themselve's on Pre-Order for this ZT0551???
Who's gonna hyper-ventilate and have an anxiety attack if they don't get one before they sell out???

I dunno. To be honest my excitement has faded a little bit.

I think we need more pictures.

Me too. I've been having fun snapping and fondling my new ZT 0301 and I need to see the Vanax version. I need to see Rick's "big surprise" since I didn't see anything in the pics of the Elmax version that was any differemt than the pics except that Thomas said it would have a stonewashed blade - I believe. All the secrecy is not whetting the apetite.

I think I have some line art with the design changes, I'll post an image of it on Monday.
Can't wait Thomas.

Your excitement faded in 48 hours?

not all that much.

that was a crafty ploy to get you to up more pictures.

My excitement level can go up! It's hard work sustaining excitement for 2-3 months until this thing drops, a little eye candy of the edged nature couldn't hurt.
:p

Rick said that there would be a full liner under the G-10. That means that the stop pins will be resting on both sides. Also, Thomas said that they were making the pivot larger. That's two things right there that are big. It's probably going to look pretty much the same as what you saw in the first pics with a stonewashed blade and no glassbreaker nub.

Okay you've refreshed my memory. :) Are these in the 1st run of Elmax or both? Not sure if you know that or not. I've read this entire thread but can't recall every detail.

The bigger pivot in a 3.5 inch blade wasn't so neccessary IMHO but what the heck right?

Also Thomas said they have plans for a flipper model but that's down the road. I might be waiting for that one, Kershaw does a nice job on flippers.

I'm not going to "et 'em all" either, $750 for 3 of these will finance my Andrew Demko custom and leave almost $300 in the bank.

Guess I'll have to wait until I can see them. ;)

Meh demko? These are design with Rick hinderer......Hands down I don't care if there is 5-6 of them I'm owning them all.....

Go for it Bill! Hinderer's XM's really rock - a lot harder than the collab though IMO.

Well of course we love flippers as well, and have done more of them than anybody I know. We have a flipper design of Rick's on the table that we agreed on internally yesterday (No I don't have details), but with the 0550, the whole design would have to change if we wanted add a flipper.

I think I have some line art with the design changes, I'll post an image of it on Monday. Perhaps I'll start a new thread, as this one is getting a bit lengthy.

In talking with the factory manager yesterday, we opted on moving this piece up on the production schedule. He wouldn't commit to the end of Aug. but nodded at mid-Sept. So we're getting closer.

Thomas you weren't teasing us with "I have some line art with the design changes, I'll post an image of it on Monday?"

I think we'd all love to see it. :D:D:D

Hey Thomas, just take a picture of the pile of steel that will become the blade, or maybe the HT oven. That should be enough to tide them over... :D

Hey guys! Here is another design change for you all. I deleted the choil...Actually that was one of the first changes that I wanted to do after I got to handle the prototype...After I played with it I decided that this particular blade profile would be better without the choil....plus it gives you a full 1/4 in more cutting edge! With the design of the handle done in such a way as to bring your hand more forward up on the blade having this extra cutting edge closer to the rear of the blade will give you really strong cutting force in this area. Holding the knife with this design of handle makes it almost feel like your choking up on the knife anyway. The line drawing that Thomas is putting up will show it. You guys are gonna love it!

Thanks again for all your support!

That sounds Awesome!

While I'm a fan of the forward choil, I think that this design change will work very well with this particular knife. The choil looked a little small anyway so this is definitely a good design change rather than making the choil larger.

I like a choil as well, but I think the additional cutting edge yielded will be worth the loss of the choil.
