The ESEE-4 is a good gateway dr... errr... I mean, good knife.

Now back to topic,its sounds like you should have the 4 first,Everything everyone said so far is spot on, I started with the RC6 then the Izula, the 3 then the 4. But i have to say i EDC the Izula and love the 6 the best, it just does it all for me and I carry it more than any of the others. Next up for me has got to be the Junglas. Good luck.

I think the six is the best in the line. Btw, if you look, someone posted photos gutting out a moose with an izula. It was not a small moose.

i started with an izula, then got the rat pack 3, won another 3 in a contest, got the 6 for Christmas, the lite machete just because my girl loves me, and the junglas for my birthday...

"Mad Max combo" = ESEE5 + HEST.

I think that starting smaller would be a great idea - HEST or Izula.

I love my 5, but it's not for everyone.
