Newbie has stupid question

Another vote for the CS SRK. I'd also take a look at the CS Master Hunter. I picked up a 2nd about six months ago from Special Projects for $25.

Yup,

I want a knife I can use up. I have more money, but if I spend $100 plus on a knife I'm sure I won't really USE it. Kind of like buying a $1500 pistol and keeping it new in the box.

Come on SRK!

If you've raised the bar to $100, get a Greco.
Indestructible.
Sharp.
Fit the hand.
John will refinish his knives for $12.50.

I will have to go with the CS SRK get a new one first run the seconds can not be returned for any reason acording to the info in the special projects catolog.Ka bar also is a good knife and so is the Camillus survival air force knife it's a little smaller but a good knife.

I have nothing against knives in $ 50.00 range. I do not buy expensive knives - but I do not set the price range for my purchases as well. It happened before - I thought I would buy knife for 40, then I saw one I liked for 50, then another one etc... I ended up with few of them (about 80 USD each) and I am quite happy.

I am sure that many people here started with inexpensive production knives and moved to much more expensive custom pieces. And I am sure they even use them.

Leroys .45- The knife is ok but the retention clip on the Glock field knife sucks.
THe CS SRK is a good knife but I advise you to save a few extra bucks and get a Fallkniven A-1. The S-1 is the same knife a little smaller and costs about $60. Good luck
