The Mail Recovery Center, or MRC, handles packages and letters that are destroyed or lost during transit. It's usually a bad thing when you get a package from them, it means something of yours just got destroyed/lost.
Yesterday I received a small package from the MRC. It contained the mailing labels and postage from a destroyed package with $10.95 postage on it. Immediately, I thought that a KITH knife had been destroyed on it's way to me since I'm not expecting anything else. It turns out that it was knife related, but not my KITH knife. It was for a hammer from Sam Salvati that I never got. In his defense, he didn't know that I hadn't received it until last month and we have been wondering what happened to it. He mailed it last summer and I'm just now getting the notice from the MRC. In other words, my hammer has been sitting in a lost & found box somewhere for several months! Hopefully I will get it in a few weeks. Thankfully it was a hammer and not a KITH knife. A hammer can obviously take a beating and isn't likely to have been stolen, the same can't be said for a custom knife.
