NEWBIE KITH "I'm ready" and photo thread

Packed and ready to ship UPS. My computer crashed yesterday and I couldn't get to my e-mail, otherwise I would have shipped it then. I hope whomever receives it enjoys using it in the kitchen!

The Mail Recovery Center, or MRC, handles packages and letters that are destroyed or lost during transit. It's usually a bad thing when you get a package from them, it means something of yours just got destroyed/lost.

Yesterday I received a small package from the MRC. It contained the mailing labels and postage from a destroyed package with $10.95 postage on it. Immediately, I thought that a KITH knife had been destroyed on it's way to me since I'm not expecting anything else. It turns out that it was knife related, but not my KITH knife. It was for a hammer from Sam Salvati that I never got. In his defense, he didn't know that I hadn't received it until last month and we have been wondering what happened to it. He mailed it last summer and I'm just now getting the notice from the MRC. In other words, my hammer has been sitting in a lost & found box somewhere for several months! Hopefully I will get it in a few weeks. Thankfully it was a hammer and not a KITH knife. A hammer can obviously take a beating and isn't likely to have been stolen, the same can't be said for a custom knife.

Got mine off this morning. Still having some sheath problems. I hope the recipient likes it. Heck, I just hope it makes it there!!!

You will see when it gets there I had a hell of a time getting it shipped at first the post office would not mail it then I went back and talked to the manager and they finnally shipped it,
Anthony

maybe we should start another woo-hoo thread as both combined would be lengthy, guess it doesn't really matter..

maybe a yoo-hoo thread :D..

@Zaph1, I had something similar happen with some money I sent in an envelope, when it was never received we counted it up as stolen or whatnot..

almost a year later he got the money, we were both in shock ! now where does it sit for that long?? with a return address even...??

The USPS has lots of people working to process and deliver the mail that goes through the fast automatic sorters, but only a handful of people who sift through items that don't scan right, or get damaged. It can take a long time for them to get to the bottom of the bin. If new stuff gets constantly placed in the bin, the bottom items may take a very long time to get hand sorted.
Additionally, an item may get knocked off the conveyor and sit on the side for....yeras in some cases. Recently, a batch of mail was discovered in an out of view area where it had fallen ( one piece at a time) for years. Some mail was seven years old.

You guys can use the Woo-Hoo thread, or Geek can put up a separate one to keep things easier to find.

Next year we will have one KITH...more on that after New Years.

This thread should probably be "unstuck" the same as the Christmas KITH I'm Ready thread was.

The Woo-Hoo thread is being used by both groups right now. If Geek wants to start a separate thread, I can move the posts from this KITH to that one.
I will un-sticky this whenever Geek wants.

Feel free to unsticky it anytime. It has been a good year, but I think the woo hoo thread is the only important thing now.
