I really liked it and I recommend it highly. It and "The wonder of knife making" also by Goddard. Both good books for info on all aspects of knifemaking.
I also like David Boye's book. It has a more step by step approach that Goddard's books don't have. (Of course they weren't meant to be step by step)

If you decide to use ATS 34 or another air hardening steel Don Robinson lives in Brownsville and has heat treated some blades for me, and also givin me lots of advice. He is a great guy.
