So, after some discussion with the wife, we decided that I could use a hiking companion and just a friend in general to keep me company. I figured that I'd go the route of rescuing a dog, having a breed in mind.
Lucked out and fell in love with a 3 month old German Shepherd that I'm going to call Scout.
Well mannered little pup, healthy, bright eyed, and active. Once he grows into those monster paws of his, he'll be hitting the tougher trails with me. :D

So, without further ado, here's a couple mug shots of the little guy.

How anyone could give up on a face like that is beyond me. I sure couldn't say no, and look forward to a lot of fun filled years ahead with him. Was so excited I just had to share.

Cute pup. I have always liked german sheperds, they are really smart and loyal dogs.

Good rescure bro! Thats a fine lookin mutt. I can't wait to get a dog. The wife says we still have some stuff we have to get in order first, then it's pound puppy time.

Yep, he's gonna be a handsome fella for sure. As you see here, he's already quite the lady's man. :p

What a handsomeshep. German Sheperdsare the kind of best friend that truly makes a best friend.

That fellow of yours looks like he is going to be a bruiser. You are a lucky man!!!

Great breed ,I will be looking for another soon,myShepherd is old ,I got her in 1993 and she was 1.5yrs old and she still kick'n here in 2008,not kicking like she once did but still there to greet me every morning and when i return from work..she will be missed when she does pass on....

Great looking animal you got there, treat him good and he will always return the favor.

That little hound will be the best investment you have ever made! Good looking dog! As soon as I start to load the truck later today, mine will be getting excited. Whoever said you can't buy happiness never bought a dog from the pound!

Thanks for all the kind replies fellas. As far as what knife he carries, Bearthedog, I don't think a 3 month old should have a knife. :p Not to mention that he'd have a hard go at using it with no thumbs.

Edit: The more I think about this knife carrying dog thing, the more I like it. Maybe I'll build him a small PSK with some first aid items, spare water purification tabs(dog's gotta drink too, ya know), and a Victorinox Classic or other 58-74mm knife. Hmmm, there's some definite possibility to this idea now.

didn't work out well.
Him and his buddy (my friends husky/GSD mix) run through the trees like Ewoks evading Storm Troopers on land speeders.

Yours looks a lot like mine did at that age.

He's topped out at 90lbs. thank god.

edit: not trying to hijack with pictures of my violent-thieving-loud-fatheaded monster, just can't pass up a dog thread, especially about GSD's.

SWEEEEEEEEEEETTT! Love seeing the pics.
