Newest ZT0770 variant

I didn't see this posted anywhere yet, but there's a new ZT0770 variant on the market now. This model has an M4 steel blade and carbon fiber scales. I just got the email from Derrick at KSF. I just thought I'd put it out there for anyone who is interested. Honestly, with this model coming out, who needs a 0777?

Great knife in a great steel. Problem is, my original Elmax version gives me all the performance I need. But for those who have the Elmax and M390 variants, I say GO GET IT and complete your collection. :)

This comes out just in time for me to lose/misplace my 0770CF. And I'm broke as well, trying to pay for a wedding.
 
On a side note, did anyone else notice a subtle change in ZT's carbon fiber scales? The first run of 0562's and the cf 0770's had an uneven finish to the CF, but in the pictures on sites listing the new batch of 0620 and this new 0770, the cf looks different. Looks like a bigger weave and perfectly even.

I am serious. Granted, the 0777 is more refined, but this is basically the same knife (super steel, ZT, carbon fiber, somewhat limited) for those that don't want to spend $700+ on a production flipper on the secondary market.

Agreed on the uneven patterning of the original 0770CF. I got one with an uneven pattern and sent it in to have the scale replaced. The pattern is perfect now. I wouldn't necessarily assume that the patterning on Derrick's variants will be even. But it they're not, ZT will make it so.
 
Very nice offering by a great dealer. But I'm kinda like bld522 in that my current 0770CF in Elmax is all that I need. Still, the M4 is tempting. Love the DLC blade coating. Really makes for a nice look.

My 0770CF is one of my 4 most commonly carried knives. If you're reading this and don't have one yet, get off the fence and buy this one. It is a can't miss knife, IMHO. :)

Mine is uneven also. I didn't bother to return it, though, as I couldn't keep it out of my pocket long enough to send it back. :D.

They're different knives. The 0770CF arguably falls into the "gentleman's knife" category. That really can't be said of the 0777. But I get your point. :)

Have you ever held a 0777? I have the M390 variant of the 0777 and it's my most favorite piece in all of my collection. The 0770 is great and I have a couple of them but the 0777 is something special.
 
I wasn't trying to say they are exactly the same, just that this is a close option for those that can't afford/find a 0777

Roger that. :) The main difference for me is that the 0777 is a knife I'd never carry. It's too big for me to EDC . . . along with everything else ZT makes. The 0770CF is the lone exception to that. And I remain both blown away and exceedingly grateful that ZT decided to build it.

Well I've got mine ordered. I'm not big on coated blades but this one sure is sexy.

If they made it unassisted and blackwashed I'd be all over it. I tolerate the A/O on my 0770, but I'd sure prefer to not have it.
 
I'm not interested in anything AO but congrats to Derrick for putting this deal together.
