Oh yeah,

Gus Cecchini (GTC Knives) told me he came with 19 knives or so. 12 for delivery, and he sold all but two by friday afternoon. I am sure they all went by today.

Why am I not surprised? :D

Coop
I KNEW that would happen quickly!!! Gus's stuff IS top notch!!!

Thanks, Steven--
that kind of thing is off my radar. I was worried that I had been unaware of someone important, like a new knifemaker or something. :D

I wonder if Ashton was Twittering while there? He has the #1 most followed Twitter profile in the world. (For some strange reason).

Seriously? Our grandson is named after him.

Yep, it was him....complete with body guard and a lady that I think is his manger. No sign of Demi.

Mike D, just was his typical friendly self and called Ashton over and started talking and showing knives like he was any old Joe.

Good for Michael...I hope he sold that Lerch to him.

Although I think Ashton is one of the worst actors alive today, he will gain some respect back if he (can proof he) is a real knifeperson.

Just got to Nashville----

I thought it looked like there were about half the people that normally show up on Friday..........the Pit was tame all three nites....you could walk up to the bar and get a beer within a minute.

Sat morning was pretty busy, as stated above.......but only for a little while.

I did quite well, and the other guys in my booth did well, but dont know about the overall sales.

Wow I do not know what to say I had a fantastic time at the blade show. It was not all the great knives but the fantastic people. First and foremost my father died a few years ago and I miss him. Paul Long has stepped up and adopted me and I could not be more pleased and proud. He is a fantastic man and the time I spent with him and Sandy M. was a highlight. Paul is a little stricter than my dad was but I guess I will get used to it:D.

Next the CKCA dinner was great and really started the whole trip off in a great way. I got to meet so many greats there. That opened the door for so many casual conversations thru the rest of the show that the dinner just for introductions was worth every minute.
The CKCA has a great group of guy’s and I learned a lot. Spent some great time with Paul K., Roger P, Jon B and Kevin J.Kevin and I really got to spend some time and he was even so kind as to drive me back to my room every night after the first night when I kind of got lost at 3 in the morning walking back to my room. Some woodsman huh:D.. Thanks Kevin I had a great time. I really enjoyed hanging out with Rob C and since we live close together I am looking forward to meeting up. I met to many great people to mention them all but thanks for the great time everyone.

As for makers I got to spend time with to many to mention them all but thanks guys I really enjoyed all the conversations:thumbup:.

My 3 favorite knives at the show where Burt Fosters Persian ST 24 type fighter that was regretfully sold before the show John White’s Big Fighting Bowie that was going to Riad and Jason Knight’s big Random Dog Star Blackwood fighter. There where so many great knives it was truly a pleasure seeing them all.

The only thing that would have made this a better show was if Steven would have made it. But even though he was not there he reached out from California waved his magic crazy hand and made my trip fantastic when ever I had a question or needed something all I had to do was call him and magically I would get an answer or someone would appear to help me out. He provided me with so many hook ups I can’t thank him enough. One of the best was an introduction to Matt D what a talented guy and his new production folder is fantastic and you all should check out this cool little knife.

All right as to what I got .. I am very pleased to say on the very first morning I caught Jason Knight walking in and I snagged the big Random Dog Star with Blackwood Fighter. I have always wanted one of Jason’s big fighters and this one is just fantastic Fast and light and I am thrilled . Jason Is fantastic and I really enjoyed hanging with him and getting this knife is a real honor.
I think I got the best deal in the show when I saw a knife on a dealer’s table and called Steven and asked about the maker. Steven gave me all the info I needed and then my buddy Matt Lamey gave me more info and was real cool to hang out with. Thanks Steven and Matt. The knife turned out to be a Michael Veit Hot Blued carbon fighting bowie with a 9 ¾ inch blade when you turn the blade in the light you can see a beautiful temper line with fingers like lighting coming off the hamon. Both the guard and the skull crusher pommel are also Hot Blued and it has a great right hand piece of stag. Truly a great older piece from a super maker in perfect condition. A stunning blade and I do not want to mention the price like I said best deal of the show. This knife is super clean. This knife will not get sheathed something rare for me.

I picked up a couple of Matt D.’s little prouduction folders and that’s about it .. Joe Mandt showed me my rough grinded ST 24 and it looked great anxious for that one Joe I enjoyed talking to ya.

Perfect show my Bagwell and I had a great time thanks to all.

As for pics the Knight is on it’s way to Texas I am mailing out my last Damascus stud to Paul tomorrow. So as soon as I get it back I will take some.. Coop took some for Jason so maybe one of them can post those. As for the Veit my Leica died on me at the show and that is on it’s way out to get repaired tomorrow so as soon as I get some I will post. I will be there next year and I just have to remember to bring more money I know Steven you told me so:).

Hi Joe,

Susan and I made a late entrance to the CKCA banquet. Sorry I wasn't introduced. :( Who is Matt D. ?? (Edit: OK, Matt Diskin. Yes, a VERY cooll guy!)

I mentioned I was going to shoot Jimmy Chin's MS set. I couldn't take it on saturday and he said he'd show on Sunday, but methinks he jumped ship. ;)

I had the BEST show of all three years, by a small margin. From thursday afternoon till Sunday at 2pm I was always doing pending work. I am sorry to report I could not set one foot in the main show hall. The show had to come to me.. :)

Buddy Thomason was our working partner the whole weekend, and he was set up to shoot portraits for needy knifemakers. What a fantastic opportunity to BE PROFESSIONAL and show your person on your website or knifemaker showcase, or your brochure, etc. Well, knifemakers are their own worst self-promoters, and the turnout was not overwhelming. For the numbers of makers and folks who DID show up for a portrait, Buddy's work was super!

I have miles to go before we will be home, or to get started. (Reporting in from a hotel on the road. Goodnight!)

Coop

More info here than I got at the show. Well, almost...

I didn't get to visit with a lot folks, sorry I missed a bunch of you.
But it was a great show! My best yet...

Cliff Parker sold out quick, 7 folders I think. I sold 9 pieces, some of
which never made it to the table :o One big damascus bowie got away
without a photo but Coop shot the 3 in Roger's thread.

Riad, you have buyers lined up for that fighter ;)

Super show and a whole lot of Fun! Thanks all!

STeven it is on the website under V&D knives
Who better than to borrow money off maybe I won't have to pay him back:D

Coop you looked busy so one of these days we will get to visit.

Don everytime I went to your table you where gone only time I got to see ya was a quick hello when we would pass each other. One of these days when we get to do some fishing we will spend some time:D

Other highlights for me was the cut comp watching Jerry Fisk in his yellow shirt announceing and James Williams cutting demo. Also got to have a drink with Micharl Janich and did not run into Laci Szabo till the last night would have liked to talk to both more.
