Cliff was legit. He was a gift to the forums and got tossed out over hurt feelings and politics. I will never forget the threads where he would tell very famous makers right to their (forum)faces what is wrong with their knives. Some of them went absolutely berserk.

Hey, Jrandom#! Haven't seen you 'round these parts in a while. Welcome back!

I'll just say that it's a good thing that everyone can now easily have his own blog and his own youtube channel with virtually no cost or technical setup, and is able to expresses his own opinion, without having to worry about the forum owner's views or those of the businesses that supports the forum.

Hey, Jrandom#! Haven't seen you 'round these parts in a while. Welcome back!

Hello, sir.

I had to take a break from the knife hobby. I had a baby girl and ended up selling most of my collection to take care of my family. I haven't bought a knife in 2 years. :( Things are sorting themselves out, now, though.

I'm even considering getting myself a Busse.

Don't you mean quantitative analysis?

Actually yes, yes I do. The original sentence read something like, "in the midst of so much unsupportable qualitative commentary this engineer appreciated an attempt at quantitative analysis" but then I did some deleting and rearranging, managing to erase the wrong word. Thanks for catching that, humbling reminders are some of the most important. :D

It's pretty clear to me that management here took that remark as a direct insult to Spark.

pretty clear to me that, the remark was nothing and that is exactly what I originally stated. You should know better than try to correct me:D

Interesting.

I've spent my life as one of those technical geeks ... I'm both an engineer and a scientist. I've worked with and managed/led/shepherded large, wandering herds of these species for many decades now. Among the many things I've learned is that, as a species, we're not very good at communicating outside our narrow range, and we frequently 'piss off' the public.

I guess it just comes with the trade. So much effort is spent learning and practicing the discipline that we miss a lot of things we should have learned.

Not true for all of us, but true for most.
I'm going with OldPhysics on this one. I've worked around enough engineers to know that he speaks the truth. I also know that nothing we say here will change what happened. I'm just glad Will found Cliff alive and well and doing what he's always done.

Well, all I'll say is this, years ago he turned me onto a Swamp Rat Howler (second Gen), and this far down the road, here I am.

He planted a seed, and the tree grew straight.

I enjoyed Cliff's posts. You had to take his input with a grain of salt because it is difficult to get a significant sample size upon which to draw conclusions or a consistent and objective methodology; but it was a different point of view.

This is getting real old.

I agree in this case. Hard to find much of value in dredging up contentious banter from the past that has so little bearing now, at least in my opinion. Since it was my thread, I'm electing to shut it down rather than attract more of the same. I started the thread several years ago to let people know Cliff was up and running again and where to find him--I think anyone who wants to find him now can do so easily enough.
